So I'm waxing these ski's and the base is super dry and there's small miner scrapes all over it. Do I use Ptex or Wax to cover it up? Or should I just wax anyway, and allow those scrapes to reappear?

A hand wax will help fill in any minor scrapes/scratches. For any deeper ones that remain apparent after waxing, it would be good to get those filled with p-tex next time before you wax for better base performance. A standard tune at a local shop can also help add a little p-tex where needed and refinish the base.

Does the wax used by Babybel for cheese work? I got lots laying around.

It depends on the temperature. Cheese wax should be good for wet slushy spring snow. If you get cheese on the ski base, you can scrape it off with a cracker.
