I'm 52 years old male and, as of this writing, completed three classes. Sir, I want to thank you for these videos. I've been a hot mess since I started. Now, I at least know how to tie my belt. I've watched most of your videos on your channel. Your content has been a tremendous help. I notice you have not posted in a while. I hope you're okay because your ministry has been a great value to us older bjj players. Thank you for sharing!

Thank you! That’s why I started posting these videos….sure - learning arm bars and triangles are great but what the heck is a spat? And a rash guard…no gi…these are things that new folks need to know. I’m still around and rolling…I have a new job which requires travel so making videos is tough…I want to get back to it though cause I enjoy helping people. Thanks again and I hope you’ll sub and stick around so when I post, you can let me know how your journey is going.

@@midlifebjj Mr. Midlifebjj, Yes. I subscribed to your channel. Sir, do you have a general email address box where you field questions/inquiries? I ask because I really would like your advice on switching schools. I already paid up front the amount $1,620 for one year, and I'm not completely satisfied with the instruction I'm receiving. I appreciate any help you can give.

This channel has honestly become one of my favorites, found it a while back researching bjj. My local gym does not allow new members beacuse of covid so im stuck for now looking at videos. I really enjoy your perspective as a blue belt since it feels like most of the bjj channels out there are by black belts. It gives me a perspective of how it will be for me in the beginning of the journey which i really appreciate!

@@midlifebjj thanks!! Look forward to to seeing more. Right now I’ve only done 2 classes so stuff is a bit overwhelming along with all the content that’s online. I think my struggle at the start is knowing where to start or what extras outside of class.

One of your old videos came up in my feed and I noticed a Team Passos gi. I’m training in his Sterling HQ. Small world. Keep up the great content!

Professor Tony is awesome! Yeah, I’m down near Richmond.. Suburb...Midlothian....I was at a Passos affiliate but things didn’t work out...so I switched to another school...the new school owner received his brown under Tony but black from another professor. It is a small world and if you’re training at HQ, you’re training with some awesome people! Keep it up! Appreciate the support. 🙏

Slightly related to this video.......I've been on the fence for about a year in regards to ordering an Origin gi. Your videos/praise put it over the tipping point for me. Ordered "The Path" last week. Can't wait to get it! Love your vlogs my man!

I love those Gis! Did you use the 10% off link in my video description? A couple of people have the path in my school… that thing is so sweet looking. Enjoy it!

@@midlifebjj CRAP! I didn't even think of using your 10% off link. Hastily ordered out of excitement. Sorry bro. Definitely will on the next order, as I plan on replacing all of my current gi's (four) with Origin.

I once heard a sensei from Japan say that wearing your gi right over left is only done on your funeral, so it's awkward to see it done for a living person. Maybe he was joking, but it might actually be a Japanese custom. Can anyone confirm?
@midlifebjj3 жыл бұрын
Hmm..never heard that but sounds like it could be true… I was in Japan once …at a big dinner..was about 25 years old at the time (business trip) - ordered some noodles…proceeded to stick my chopsticks straight down in the noodles…to hold my sticks while I adjusted my napkin on my lap like a proper young man on a bid-ness trip…didn’t really notice the entire table of Japanese co workers staring at me…until I looked up…they all proceeded to tell me that jabbing your chopsticks into your noodles meant death…that’s why they give you that Little Rock thingy at Japanese restaurants- to rest your chopsticks on..or you can lay them across the bowl…but never jam them bad boys into your food…reserve that barbaric activity for your fork.
@scififan6983 жыл бұрын
@@midlifebjj it's amazing how the Japanese culture assigns all kinds of subtle superstitions to things we brutish Westerners don't even think about, isn't it! One could ask 'why', but then again, having hundreds of years of culture on an island, it's probably very normal to have a deep set of - for us - incomprehensible customs. Thanks for the story!
