re-watched this video after a year and my style has changed drastically. When I first watched this video I was 5'11 - 280 pounds. I wore around a 9" inch inseam with a 42-inch waist. I'm now around 195 pounds and gravitate towards 5.5-6" inseam with a 34-inch waist. Chubbies is a brand I love, they make southern-frat style shorts that are short but with smaller/muscular thighs they look great!

Excellent work man! I’m 6’0”, and at my max I was pushing 330 lbs wearing 46-48 Levi’s, I’m now 175-180 lbs, and wear 32s with ease. I have to agree with the whole style thing, I can’t stand anything past regular fit, back then I was all about relaxed fit, now I lean towards slim all the time. Shorts I can’t do anything past a 8” inseam, 10” at most, but then I cuff them to at least an 8”. It sure is a great feeling, congrats!

For years been buying Shorts from Old Navy all I find is 10 inch shorts. Recently just started going to J Crew Factory I'm like 5'6" started wearing 7 inch shorts and they did went up to my knees I was impressed.

I’ve been very happy with the Target Goodfellow & Co shorts. They are $19 and have a good trim fit with a nice amount of stretch to remain comfortable. They are available in 7”, 9” and 10.5” in a wide range of colors and materials like chino, cotton linen and my favorite chambray. The quality feels decent, although they may shrink some in the wash. I am 5’9” and have pretty short meaty legs, so I prefer the 7” or 9” with one cuff. I feel like visually it elongates my leg slightly to keep me from looking bottom heavy and dumpy. Love the content! Keep up the great work!

There’s nothing wrong with wearing patterned or ripped shorts. As long as your top contrasts it, you’re fine. Example: plain Black fit V neck shirt with a ripped (destressed) denim shorts or visa versa with patterned and so forth.

Wonderful advice, and perspectives! These days it is difficult to find any real shorts for men. The style got high jacked by the ghetto version of something that is in my perspective more like old style English "Nickers" for children. It is almost all you can find these days. I personally like them shorter, even like the traditional tennis shorts. Women get to have variation in length, so what ridiculous designer all of a sudden decided men have to be stuck with one version hanging below their knees. It is crazy! Good to hear from someone else that likes real short pants for men.

Thanks for addressing the short lengths! I think that's my trouble I'm facing here. I'm 6'1" and I actually wear 7 inch shorts from American Eagle/Hollister (NO name brands shown) as I like that they're somewhat slim fit. But I can't help but feel that my 7 inch shorts are TOO short depending on what tees/shirts I wear (M Tall), so now I'm thinking of getting 9 inch ones for my long legs. I actually got two pairs of 9 inch slim jean shorts from Express, which also happen to be my favorite shorts I truly feel comfortable in. I like to show legs, but I also don't want to look unflattering.

I like Reef brand. I have skinny legs too and they fit nicely...great length too. They are also light weight, don’t wrinkle, and breathe well. Spendy but worth it. Oh, and they come with a drawstring in case you want to go in the water (I don’t live near a beach so I remove the drawstring).

Hi! I enjoyed your tips, and they're mostly what I've heard over recent years. I must admit to liking cargo shorts as well. I never use the pockets (I always have a bag with all of my necessary take-alongs), but I find good fitting cargos very sexy. And shorter shorts tend to make a guy look a little more juvenile, in my opinion - but I wouldn't wear shots below the knee!

Cargo shorts for photography. I carry one bigger camera in hand, and small one in pocket, plus data cards, batteries, wallet,phone,passport,cash,small tripod, lens filters,flash etc. Just buy a really good pair that fit well and don't wrinkle.

I'm a new subscriber. I think pretty good advice here but I do have some qualms: - I think too-short shorts look like you're trying to hard to hard to be fashionable. At 1:46 I think they are just too short with too much bare leg distracting from the rest of your overall look. At 5:27, that's a good look. - I think it's worth pointing out that the top's overall tailoring should match the short's tailoring. So, if you have tailored shorts, you should have a tailored top. You seem to lean to the tailored look because you have the frame for it. But for somebody that is a little less proud of their physique, they could work a less tailored top and a less tailored short. The larger top would cover the top of the short and mitigate the "trapezoid effect." I agree with your overall point nonetheless, that there is a point of no return on baginess and it can make you look like you have chicken legs. - I think it's also worth mentioning the type of footwear one should wear with shorts. And as you aptly demonstrate, it's usually sockless. I think if you have to wear a hiking boot with the requisite socks, a longer short looks better but I've heard the opposite so, you know... - I disagree with three of your four style tips. In order of offense, least to most.... a) I think cargo shorts, though often worn incorrectly, are ok for taller guys especially if you do a loose fit top or layers. I also think they're good for hiking as they do serve a utiliatiran purpose and the big boots and long socks detract from their bulk. b) logo shorts are pretty trendy right now and I think they're ok for the gym. c) Plaid shorts are awesome!!! I'm a little suprised you don't like them. Just put a solid top and you've got a winner! Sorry to be so picky! I had some free time on my hands :)

I would say never tuck, similarly fitting (not baggy), and to halfway the rear pocket when standing, preferably no skin showing when bending over, but that is more a sign the short is too low on the hips than the shirt being too short. Go for button down shirts or T-shirts with a straight back line. The round ones are for tucking. No polo's unless you play golf or you want to look like a real estate broker.

I like chubbies, they make 5.5" and 7" and are fairly reasonably priced. You can get cheaper shorts at JCPenney, they sell 7" or 8" shorts for less. Both fit similarly on me, I'm 6'1" or so with medium sized legs.

Ripped jeans shorts are actually pretty nice as long as they aren’t baggy or too long. But I will say it makes you look... immature, so if you are over 30 it’s best to stay away from them. It definitely looks much better than those cargo shorts or overly baggy and long “shorts” that most men tend to wear.

I personally find that this is the only way to convince guys to change their cut, particularly guys still stuck in the 00's when long cargo shorts were kind of a thing.
