I like that logic about cars. The amount of money you spent on cars is the same amount you already lost! Thats why i prefer used cars. With good research, think only what you need, do PPI before buying, is a win!

Cars aren’t just point A to B they are what watches are to you, so don’t criticize
@BrockMcGoff4 сағат бұрын
I agree, hence why I said I’m also irrational (at the beginning of the video) by buying watches. I will say though, the cheapest car is more expensive than 99% of watches. And most cars don’t hold their value or appreciate (like some watches do). So I don’t think the two categories are totally comparable.

Have you tried making pour-over coffee? I made the change from Keurig to a simple pour over setup and never looked back. I purchased an OXO electric gooseneck kettle and a Bee House ceramic dripper as a beginner setup. It’s simple and makes a fresher brew than any coffee maker I’ve used. You can put the dripper over your mug for a direct pour, it just takes a couple of tries to get it just right the first few times, but you’ll be set after that.

Horrible customer service and policy!!!!!!!!! Ordered a coat. When delivered I try on for fit. It was the right size so I took the tags off. The next day I put it on and in the mirror I noticed a seeing defect that made an indent in the zipper area making the coat not smooth all the way down. I texted customer support. I got Wendel and went back and forth with him and he said he had to escalate my compliant and would get a response within a few days. But the same day, I received an email from Wendel stating that they regret that can’t do anything about. I responded again to ask them to do the right thing. Again, “we regret….” BS. Mind you, the coat was unworn and still NEW! So I made a complaint with my bank. They sided with me and refund the full transaction. There are too many REPUTABLE, CARING companies that actually care about their customers. They will never get my money again and I will tell everyone I know not to shop with them. Do a deep dive on the web to see their reviews. And notice that there are no Google reviews. Doesn’t take a genius to figure out why!

This is something I learnt after buying multiples of something in different colours. Sometimes it's the fit of the item that's driving me to consumer FOMO and so I've even bought untested colours just to have another of that item, or I didn't figure out that colour was one of the biggest reasons for the first purchase being so nice and practical. Like thinking a pair of blue denim shorts are nice and buying it in white, when I never wear white casually (so high maintenance) and denim shorts are a casual item.
@arty_lerry773015 сағат бұрын
If You have money to spend. It's not bad thing to buy the same thing in different colour. If You don't have money to spend. Then yes. Should just minimalistic.
@lookingatdaisies990114 сағат бұрын
@arty_lerry7730 mm, I think having money doesn't mean intensionally buying things that have little use. And I agree that it's not a bad thing to buy something in a different colour. My point was about not thinking about how the colour affects wearability. So i.e blue jean shorts, very useful, gets worn twice a week, so one is like "wow, shorts are great and so practical" buys white shorts, wears it once, immediately needs washing and for the rest of the summer it's forgotten. I buy slow nowadays, Uniqlo is an example of this temptation lol.
@arty_lerry773014 сағат бұрын
@lookingatdaisies9901 well, You can't wear one shorts for entire summer. You need variety. Stylish people can't wear the same thing everyday. Lol I know we have some pieces that we wear more than other pieces. But they need to rest. Especially shoes. They need to have rest. Can't wear the same shoes everyday. They will lose their shape much faster in that way.
@lookingatdaisies99018 сағат бұрын
@@arty_lerry7730 of course, my point was to think about the colour, so for a well thought out varied and *practical* wardrobe, the second and the third and so on might be black, another shade of blue, navy, maroon, deep green etc and then once I've got this basics down, I could buy a white piece or some colour that would get limited use.

This is too true. I live in upstate NY and also have a charcoal grey wool topcoat that’s my workhorse coat and looks great with every outfit, business or casual. I have a wool light brown windowpane topcoat that looks amazing and yet I rarely utilize it because it’s too limited compared to the grey one. Dark grey topcoats forever.

I would add another 2 items to your list, Brock: coffee and film/TV streaming services. I used to work for a coffee company and I was shocked to find out how big the coffee industry is. Most people in the world pay significant money for a drink that is essentially useless. Humanity was just fine for hundreds of thousands of years with no coffee. But now, most of us in the world drink it daily. Coffee is a healthy drink if consumed black and in small quantities, but the coffee industry isn't as big as it is because people drink their coffee black and in small quantities. All the coffee shop culture, the home coffee applicance industry, the million different drinks (different ways to add milk, different types of milk, different ways to foam it, hot, cold etc.) are a perplexing waste of resources, and terrible for your health too, if you use high fat milk, lot of sugar, and drink multiple of these a day. As for film/TV streaming services, need I explain this? Enormous waste of time and money on low quality entertainment.

Decent video Brock! I think you could sum up this video by puttin all the items in this list in 2 categories: useless services and marketing hype. In developed countries, our economies are mostly focused on services, especially in urban areas. Therefore, creating new services, which people don't really need, but are willing to pay for, is what we call 'economic growth'. Hence the meal delivery services, for example. Then you have the 'hype' category, which includes items that have little or no inherent value, but have culturally become status symbols - cars, diamonds, and let's be honest, also watches. Weddings, for instance, straddle the 2 categories. They are a set of services (event planning, makeup, tailoring etc.) which has also become inflated in price due to cultural hype. There is one category you listed here, though, that I genuinely believe is a good investment: bottled water. While tap water is safe to drink in certain areas, and filters can make it even safer, the quality of the water in terms of chemical composition is usually much lower than you get in high-quality bottled water. Yes, you can get fancy filters that might enhance the properties of the water, but they'll still not get it to be the same as good bottled water. The plastic is an issue, and I will admit, I don't yet know how to solve it. You can get water bottled in glass, but drinking 2L of that a day gets seriously expensive. Personally, I've tried water filters for as long as a year, but have gone back to bottled water. The reason is that, since water is the substance which I put the most of in my body every day, I prefer to rest assured I get the highest quality possible. And, unfortunately, in my understanding, this is still bottled water.

A 36mm watch face might be fine for smaller framed men, but at 6' 5", massive hands (my wedding band is a size 17), and a nearly 8" wrist, the small stuff is comically small and noticed by almost everyone. Honestly the best fit and feel for me is 50-57mm units.
