I just wish you would do a short video on how to mix your chalks after grinding them up. In this video you said that red and green will make brown, but mine came out kinda light--more of an earthly tan color. What ratio of green to red? How did you get the dark brown and reddish brown? What type of chalk do you use? I haven't been able to find any black chalk. My wife bought me one of those nice little kitchen graters with the cup attached to the bottom for grinding my chalk. And I just subscribed to your channel. Love your technique on this video. It gave me a lot of ideas to try. Thank you for posting this.

Love this technique. How do you make your chalk, and with what colors? The two colors used in this video is what I'm looking for. Thank you so much for doing this demonstration.

Roger you will now have to search for the product now. it is tempera paint. used mostly in schools for art projects. I found the powders and mixed Green and Red to get my colors, add more or less green to the mix for the different colors. and I think I may have bought a yellow color to

Great stuff there! Music is cool. I use chalk too. But one set of pastel browns and blacks and reds last forever. Hobby Lobby. 5.99 ea. Also a shot of Dull coat would be a good final touch.

I like that technique. It looks more "natural" than paint. Thanks. PS - Change your background music! :)

Thanks for the info. Do you purchase already ground chalk? If so, where can I get this stuff? If you purchase chalk and do your own grinding, where do you get it? Here in the Colonies I can't seem to find what I need....??

Roger C. Roger. Go to the Dollar store, and get ya a cheese grader for $1.00 dollar. They also have containers with lids. They come in a 12 pack for $1.00 dollar also. You can get Artist pastel sticks at an Art supply store for like $7.00 dollars for a pack of 12 sticks of different colors. Grate the pastels and store them. You can mix and match for varying colors.

that's an amazing job. ..what I do is use a dull coat in a spray can and apply a light mist and then pour on the powder then dust off the excess powder, but I use real rust powder that I get from work...I'm a steel fabricator so I have access to all kinds of stuff. ..u should see the tank car i did before I posted this comment

I like the idea. Have you considered using real chalk vs paint. Seems you could just get the colors you want and a knife and scrape the chalk to make the powder. Also i noticed that there is now shinny spots left from the finger nail polish. I am guessing because it ia a high gloss paint. I am thinking to create a surface for the chalk to stick you could get like a pump action hair spray then poor some into a small container and use a brush as you do with the nail polish, then apply chalk, and to lock it in I would hit with a satin or flat clear just so the effect doesnt wear off by handling/touching..

Easy to do get a set of Chalks at Walmart for $ 5.00 dollars. then go to the Dollar store and get ya a Cheese Grater and some small containers with lids. The Chalks will last a while.
