At what stage of the model build do you weather with those pigments? At the end? Do you preserve it somehow?
@HearnsHobbiesMelbourne11 ай бұрын
Weathering usually happens towards the end of the build. Clear coat can be used to seal the finish although it may darken as the pigment will absorb the clear and saturate the colour. Try thin coats of clear rather than a heavy coat to preserve.

10:16 after the flat clear does that mean it’s water proof? Or will it still rub off when it gets wet?

Question, would it be okay to apply any type of matte finish spray after weathering with tamiya? I have krylon for instance. I wanted to make sure before moving forward with it.
@HearnsHobbiesMelbourne2 жыл бұрын
You can mist on thin coats of clear to seal the weathering. I don't know Krylon so do a test before using it on your model. Be aware that the weathering may darken after clear is applied as it absorbs the clear, making the finish more saturated.

Newbie Question: I just received this set and the instructions mention “semi wet” applicator, yet I can’t find one video instruction of anyone touching base on this. All videos show the powder applied right onto the model. Also the powder is hard and you can’t just scoop it off. Okay so do I need to break the powder down? Does the model or the brush/sponge tip need to be semi moist? Anyone with a experience are more than welcome to respond, thanks in advance.
@awawawaawawawa23213 жыл бұрын
are these made specificaly for modeling? ive actually tried working with powdered pastels, and charcoal and from my experience they tend to rub of the kit really easily. Also sometimes fingerprint imprints are brought out when applying the medium.
@HearnsHobbiesMelbourne3 жыл бұрын
Yes, these are designed to help with modelling. Powders need to be fixed in place with pigment fixer or thinner and then sealed with flat clear to make them permanent.

@HearnsHobbiesMelbourne7 ай бұрын
Photography is tricky as it relies on lighting to be correct. strong lighting helps. Otherwise, increase the color contrast of your weathering. Similar to the high contrast painting that wargame miniature painters use to increase details. A little practice and you will get the hang of it.

Thank you for this video Very much appreciated. 🌟 I have bought all 8 of the sets. They are pretty awesome. I also downloaded and printed a pretty neat 3D print file of what is called "Tamiya Weathering Station" from Printables. And it is free too! It has 8 stepped slots at the back for all the sets and also 4 Square holes at the front for your Panel liners, etc or whatever you want to put in. And 6 holes on the side for brushes, etc. It took like 6 hours to print, mind you! LOL. On my Creality K1C. But it is worth it. If you have a 3D Printer, have a look see. I can highly recommend it. 👍
