Yes, use mohair yarn and crochet it into a cap. In my experience is the one that holds the best for children's play.

Yes it matters. Try to match the colour of the tulle to the colour of the root of the alpaca, so you can't really see it.

You certainly can but the design of the lace ribbon might be distracting or visible as you move the doll hair, that's why I prefer tulle but I have seen other dollmakers using that material too.

Depends on the length of the fiber and size of the head and how thick you want the wefts to be and how far apart you will space them in the head. I recommend starting with 100 grams to be on the safe side, but if you are making a large doll that won't be nearly enough.

@@jeanettpagan5150 I wash the locks before I weft them as I don't like working with the dirty fiber on my sewing machine.
