Thanks for the video and I have the same model which needs the right torsion spring replacement of the upper door (microsave). However, I did not have to remove many things that were done in this video. I was able to access the bottom two screws holding the microwave door frame just by removing the vent cover. No need to remove top control panel, bottom oven drawer or pull out the microwave unit. The biggest trouble is to find the replacement torsion spring.. none of the vendors I searched for had it in stock. Also, for some reason only right side springs are available. The springs are expensive for what it is.

After having all the screws removed, including the two screws that hold the microwave, I was unable to pull the microwave out. The left side moved but the right side was stuck. Please advice. Thanks!

Glad I bookmarked this video; these springs don't last it appears. Replaced them in January of 2019, and one broke again a week or so back. And yes, I did replace both, and they appear to be factory authorized parts as well :-/

Should point out that the side trim must be off to do this. You can remove the trim on both sides by taking out the small screw at bottom of each piece. Once removed, you can then wiggle the trim free - there are no screws at the top - the trim just fits up under the control panel which holds them in place. Also, if your unit is built-in you probably have drywall or a cupboard immediately above it so there is no place to set the control panel as in this video. To solve that, once you remove the two screws holding it in place and have removed the small wire connector, if you also remove the connector on the far right side you will then be able to pull out the control panel more and turn it sideways so you can slide it back into the empty area behind it.

i did this with WP4451009 and WP4451008 because my door was free falling. After replacing the springs the door still free falls.. any idea what is causing free fall?

It could be a couple of things. It could be the incorrect parts for the model, or incorrect installation, or it could be another problem. It would be difficult to say without more information about the problem and your model. You can give us a call at 1-877-477-7278 or you can chat us at our website: www.appliancepartspros.com/. We will need the model number for the appliance, so that we can look up diagrams and information about your specific unit to give you accurate advice. You can look here on our website to help you find the model number: www.appliancepartspros.com/modelnumber_locator.aspx

@@appliancepartspros in 2010 i ordered the wrong parts #WP4452396 and #WP4452395 from you, it should have been WP4451008 and WP4451009 (mine is black with stainless, not pure stainless like in the video). would it free fall with the wrong springs still? (but the broken spring had a blue tip)

@@turinreza If it's the wrong springs for your model then it could cause that. You always want to make sure you use your appliance model number to get the correct parts for your specific unit. Give us a call and we'll help you sort it out.

I need to replace the torsion spring and the microwave bulb. But, don’t have the luxury to set the control panel on top of the microwave since it is in the cabinet.....how is this fix done in the real world?
