Recently many whirlpool brands the main motor burns after 1 and half year right after the warranty period. Replacement motor is 425$ which means whirlpool is scamming consumer. The same in the other brand beware of kitchenaid, Amana, maytag or jennair

washer would fill then not wash dishes well, not run for the last hour, occasional electrical clicking noises during this time, dry soap after the cycle ends but does drain well at the end. Nothing else was wrong on the machine. This fix was it. Thank you very much for giving me what feels like a new dishwasher again. This video helped a lot. Gave me confidence. Don't forget to put the concrete weight back on like I did. Two hardish parts were putting the new one in, the drain pump hose male end would barely fit and gets a little scratched up and the 3 locks that hold the whole thing in need the assembly to be set low in the hole for the locks to swivel in place (which is a good thing to avoid leaking)

Thanks for this video. It's step-by-step instructions were great. My unit was hardwired into my electrical system. 1. I TURNED IT OFF OFF THE DISHWASHER AT THE FUSE/BREAKER BOX. 2. There is a small hex bolt securing a metal box that contains the hardwire connection. Removed that bolt which allows greater range of motion to gain access. 3. Removed the top of metal box by sliding it backwards. 4. I disconnected the +/- wires

I have a KitchenAid KDFE104DSS0 and had a leak with the Diverter motor. My suspicion was that the seal the Diverter motor plugs into was leaking. To replace that seal you need to buy the whole sump tray anyway. I opted to replace the entire Pump and Motor Assembly and spend a little more ($50 estimate) to insure I don't get leaks from the other motor and pump later. The part listed in the link fit my washer. The repair is simple and the video does a great job walk one thru the repair.

This video was extremely helpful. My Kitchenaid pump filter completely shredded itself and stopped the motor from turning. It’s been in service from new for 4.5 years and it was ran everyday. Made more sense to replace the entire assembly then piece parts. Not knowing if the motor was still good and did not want to take that chance. Thank you for the great video!

This video was extremely helpful to me for replacing the motor assembly in our KitchenAid. It was just out of warranty so I got the parts free of charge but had to install myself (Whirlpool has great customer service - always worth a call). The original installer did a hardwire install but didn't leave enough wire to pull the unit all the way out so I had to cut it and rewire. I also must have loosened the supply hose connection in the bottom front of the dishwasher when removing the drain hose or wrestling with the new unit (the connector is plastic), so I'd recommend making sure it is tight before turning the water back on (even if you don't think you touched it).

Performed this repair last night on a similar Whirlpool dishwasher (portable, model WDP350PAAB6). This procedure is correct. But be prepared, my new part required plenty of "persuasion" to properly fit down into the tub base so I could turn the locking tabs. Easy to get two tabs locked but then the third locking tab would not fully seat. Used plenty of dish soap to lubricate the seal. Laying the unit on its back and having a helper was key -- the helper could work on rotating the locking tab while I used my fist to fully seat the assembly. This part must be popular -- two other sites had it backordered for two weeks. These guys had it in stock and delivered next day, even with standard shipping.

The video was extremely helpful and the step by step was awesome. The only issue I had was that my dishwasher was attached to the sides of my cabinets rather than the top since I have a granite countertop. Once I figured that out the rest was pretty easy. The repairman wanted $400 for this repair and the part was only $250 so it’s a win in my book!

Very good instructions! Just replaced the Pump and Motor Assembly because our dishwasher wasn't filling and washing properly and leaving detergent behind. Error code was 4-3. The hardest part was pushing the sump down and closing the 3 white tabs. The dishwasher works fine now, but I still get the 4-3 error code. How do I delete it?

There is a video out there about swapping this assembly without removing it from the cubby. Downside for a DIYer not pulling it out by my mind is losing track of which wire goes in which place. If you pull it out you can take a picture of everything and make sure you get things right. You also have to use a shopvac or something to ensure the drain line is completely clear. But it is do-able without pulling the whole machine out.
@mannarmylie41953 жыл бұрын
Depends on the model i guess. I just did this job and there are many wires hooked to the assembly that go to various sensors that are NOT part of the assembly. You can only detach them by accessing them with the unit out and on its back. My model: Maytag mdb8969sdm0.
@diskotroop15452 жыл бұрын
I watched that one too and quickly realized it would be easier to disconnect everything and pull it out. The video did have the helpful tip to line the gasket with dish soap before installing.

I liked this video. My Whirlpool t went out in less than three years and the replacement motor/pump set from Amazon my son bought for a $100 just lasted a few months after the one- year warranty expired. Now must decide to buy anther brand (recognizing Whirlpool makes many) or repair again?
@mannarmylie41953 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the vid. This was a fairly easy job. Believing i had a pump issue based on weak water pressure/dirty dishes, i replaced the assembly. I then took the old one apart. The culprit? A busted and completly blocked food chopper unit. This effectively cut water flow to the pump. The food chopper is not serviceable by regular maintenance. Indeed the dishwasher pump must be removed to access it. And you have to uninstall and flip the dishwasher to get at the pump!😠 Bright side? I have a spare pump!😄

Replacing everything is a bit overkill. The part we found to be broken was the connection between the impeller to the grinder. 2 plastic pieces that are designed to fail. We cleaned the whole system and it worked for one load. Then it was back to no pressure due to food build up. We suspect a toothpick was the culprit. The grinder connection was a bit chowdered, the impeller connection was rounded smooth.

@@JohnCuppi No it didn't work. I replaced everything except circuit board. I'm thinking moisture ruined the electronics. There was junk all around it. I threw it out after spending half of a new one in parts. Money down the drain. I bought a new washer.

@@user-pk8pf8nh6s Thanks for replying back. I took a chance and bought a new pump assembly for $100. I read somewhere that it is possible for the circuit board to not send 120v to the motor/pump, which can also cause this, but I don't have a safe way of checking the voltage, and I don't know where the ground and positive terminate. I've only had my whirlpool dishwasher for 1 year and it's broken. So sad. :(
@ajeetm4 жыл бұрын
Just performed this. Make sure you fasten the old drain pump securely to the new pump assembly and that it's sealed in place. It seemed to lock for me, but started leaking immediately. Secondly, I had to use a lot of strength to get the new pump assembly to sit all the way into the tub for the 3 fasteners to lock. Video is otherwise on point.

Took me at least five tries to get it right. You have to push down pretty hard or it slides out of place as you're turning.

Good video overall but look out for one error. My setup is KitchenAid and these instructions for putting drain pump back on would have resulted in weight of dishwasher loading on drain pump or no vertical clearance btw drain pump and floor. I compared to a picture before disassembly to ensure video was incorrect. Everything else was great and I would have struggled figuring this out on my own.

There’s a settled class action lawsuit against kitchenaid/whirlpool for a diverted seal leak. If your model is covered you can get $$ back. You have 90 days from the repair to claim up to $200 or get a discount on a new one. Depends on the age of your dishwasher when it failed. $200 about covers the part. This dishwasher also steamed the inside of my cabinet which is why I suspect the insulation has a plastic liner. You can see mineral residue on a part on the left side (facing) with the black tube. Won’t buy another kitchenaid that’s for sure! I recommend everyone install a water alarm or a pan under the dishwasher to make sure you notice if it leaks. Fortunately the insulation soaked up most of it but not all of it.

@samj10122 жыл бұрын
The mistake of whirlpool is that they don't listen to service team feedback. The insulation blanket is not attached to the dishwasher making installation and service quite a hardship. Whirlpool was unable to add 4 plastic plugs to hold that blanket and make things smooth like other brands such as bosch or LG. This is why we advised hundreds of new buyers to avoid whirlpool and its sub-brands like maytag, kitchenaid, amana..etc..what kind of stupid design team repeats same mistake over 15 years ? People be warned whirlpool is garbage.

for the price of a new sump assembly unit you might as well buy another dishwasher. It would take even less effort to simply trouble shoot the motor w/o removing the sump assembly. Obviously they are profit oriented.
