Thank you for a straight forward shade guide to whitewashing. Every other video or web page I looked at it was all too heavy of pigment and I want a liiight whitewash when I refinish my kitchen cabinets so I really appreciate this ❤

What type of white paint do you use? Is it a matte, semi-gloss, satin finish? And I am sure you also use an interior white correct?

Very helpful video thank you. I will be white washing a wall covered with cedar boards (the species is white Cedar, which has a yellow color not the red the is common with cedar chests) I want more of a white over brown look. I can't find a sample board to practice on. im just wondering if cedar will work very differently than wood like the pine in your demo. Do you have any experience white washing over cedar?

Excellent video! Thank you so much for taking the time! Quick question, in the mixed water/paint method, did you use a dryer or wet rag to wipe?

Hello, for the barn wood can we put a protection after the wax technique ?
@georgeculbertson17383 жыл бұрын
Very nice video for sure. I do have a couple questions. You mentioned how the Minwax pickling and the Arborcoat stain looked the same but you didn’t really compare them to the 1 coat of 50/50. How do they look in comparison? If you were white washing interior doors is that all you would do? Would you put a protective coat on top of the white washing?

Are these acrylic water-based paints or oil paints? I always use oil paint because it dries hard as a rock, it lasts forever, and well worth the extra effort in clean-up. I don't think oil and water would mix. If these are water-based paints, do you think the wax candle method will work with oil paint?
@TimberTea5 жыл бұрын
yepp, they are acrylic water-based paints. i've never tried using oil, but i think you're right, the it wouldn't mix right with the water.

@TimberTea5 жыл бұрын
great question! if you are mixing it with water, it would have to be mixed with water based paint. I read tho, that if you want to use oil based, you could 'water' it down with turpentine!

you put the whitewash on a pine board and showed it immediately. Wait a few months and the tannins will bleed through and you will have a totally disgusting mess with brown splotches. You need to use a shellac based sealer in clear to block the tannins BEFORE whitewashing

Please nobody like this, I'm just trying to give constructive feedback and I don't want this being the first thing people see. Left right audio balance. You could probably soften the volume of the music as well. But your video is great otherwise. But fuck, I guess I'm no expert. It's a great helpful video overall.

The video is fine,you annoying loud music fade your voice down, and your mic balance is way off.People from comments are not smart enough to notice the difference anyway.

There is ABSOLUTELY NO whitewash in this video. Am I the only one who knows what REAL whitewash is? Made from hydrated lime for 3000 years and mentioned in the Bible. Look up REAL lime whitewash recipes from somewhere.
@clmitchell11662 жыл бұрын
She never mentions limewash or lime white wash. She only states whitewash. You've assumed it.
