I was brought up by my Grandmother, who was born in 1906. Your excellent review of Dale Carnegie's book, was exactly her Philosophy... above all listening with interest to other people. They are always amazed when you remember the what, when and where of what they told you. This should be automatic for us all, but certainly it's a gift to have learned it as a child.

Can you help me with advice on How to change without cognitive dissonance? Like how does one become manipulative & dishonest for personal gain without the part about being a crappy disingenuous person affecting their morale? Or do you convince yourself the ends justify the means so it’s okay because after you are in the top position of power you can then do things properly? I will say tho this explains why politics/brown nosing works so effectively and why there’s rampant incompetence the further up you climb in any field.
