The FGC needs more content like the first few mins of this video. Simply showing the information you Actually need to get playing right now. "Do this at range, use this in neutral, use this air attack most of the time, here's a simple BnB combo". It's CRAZY how many guides out there don't show this. I don't need a list of buttons and what they do, I'm new to FGs not new to video games. Show me how to play
@zadayaz3 жыл бұрын
yeah a lot of explanation videos for fighting games dont have any sort between “this is the absolute basics of how the game works” and “super high execution combo videos” which sucks
@heinokunzelmann89673 жыл бұрын
is that true? most guides for modern games that people actually play do this exact thing. Explanation of buttons and their uses, BnB combos, blockstrings and lastly some "show off" combos. Obviously you're not going to find this sorta stuff for older games (in video form at least), since you were expected to look at Dustloop and the people that didn't know about Dustloop were usually complete beginners to the FGC
@heinokunzelmann89673 жыл бұрын
@snugrailgun that's exactly what I said lol. It's the reason why most beginner guides used to go over EVERYTHING. If you were into FGs back in the day you looked your favorite character up on DL. That's just it
@wisdomcjs2503 жыл бұрын
@@heinokunzelmann8967 ya from my own experience being new to the genre this year that's what I found. The majority of them just list each button and say what they do then you're still left feeling like you didn't learn much and have to just learn it all yourself anyways. It was a struggle. What's a turn? When do I use each type of move and what's my basic strategy for a match? When to burst? Almost impossible as a new player to find all that in one short video told in a nice simple way. In this video here though, 4mins in and myself having never played blazblue feel like I know how to play Es. It was just refreshing to see an explanation like that
@heinokunzelmann89673 жыл бұрын
@@wisdomcjs250 this video is great if you want to immediately jump in and play Es against beginners. However it leaves out a lot of the general mechanics of BB. That's what the more longform guides are for. Fighting games are complex, so you won't get everything on the first try, after the first video. If you want to be somewhat competitive (like with any other game or sport) you have to put in a bit of elbow grease. Watch a video, try stuff out in-game, get beat up online, reflect, repeat and eventually you'll be good. (If you want to look up FGC terms look up 'Fighting game glossary'and click on the 'glossary infil' link. It gives short explanations and video clips where it's applicable for literally anything)

@Ig_needs_a_wig I mained Arakune from Continuum Shift all the way to BBCF. He's frustrating to learn, but once you get the hang of him, you essentially learn to control the game. He's easily top 3 imo, BUT his game heavily relies on knowledge of the opponent in terms of spacing. A lot of his moves are very area specific, so you can't just mash with him and hope something happens lol.

More things that makes Es strong that wasn't pointed out: Her dash speed is actually really good, and you can close gaps on people when they aren't expecting it while you're zoning with fireballs Her 2B is a good grounded footsies tool that'll catch the toes of a lot of people, and when combined with her dash speed is really powerful Her 2A is a decent pressure tool for low profiling, and just generally has decent range Her air dash has an arc that makes her crossup ability scarier Finally, when you get comfortable, conditioning opponents allows you to pressure with drive for lots of + frames, frametraps, and setups-- they all have gaps though that certain mashers can do something about
@chris-cu3kl3 жыл бұрын
As a new Es main, I really appreciate your brief explanation of what are Es' tools and how to use those to get what she wants. From figuring out what do I need as a new player from dustloop, the 13 page Es guide I found, and her trials I've learned to use her strong fireballs and buttons to win neutral but I couldn't figure out what to do with her drive oki and bors power up. I didn't really mess around with Bors beside to just hurl myself at the opponent with + frames when I felt like it but using her strong keepaway neutral options to convert into full combos makes it sound a lot stronger than a powerup that goes away when I'm tapped. There's a lot in Blazblue that makes me feel like I need to ignore it to focus on the basics of what's going on but it's so helpful to find someone who can show you how easy it really is to implement into my game

I'm still pretty new to BBCF overall but I've improved a bit since the start and the things that helped me the most so far is getting familiar with most of the defensive mechanics (Barrier, Burst, Overdrive Raid, Counter Assault) so that you can increase the time you're actually allowed to play the game and try to figure things out in pressure situations. Experienced players will still blow you up in the end for using defensive mechanics in a predictable way but it'll still help you overall with getting more familiar with the system. Also please for the love of god use Barrier in the air if you aren't already so you don't get hit by grounded moves, get in the habit of using Barrier immediately after air teching too. This game has it's own rhythm (quick decision making) that will take a lot of time and A LOT of matches to get used to. Watching your own replays is also really good. Take note of why you're getting hit in neutral and in pressure situations so that you can start actively working on your bad habits and also slowly learn more about the different matchups in the game.
