I’m on my 3 session and learned that moving the mast one inch back makes a huge difference!!! I bought my gear at McKite a month ago and the guy who oriented me was right 😂😂 has been a humbling experience but in my third session I’m riding both ways and going upwind. Not bad because I’m learning by myself cause no one rides here so I’m alone.

Thank you for sharing the stoke, my friend. 🤙🏽 Erik is a wealth of information in the wind sports category. He's also one of the most instructor-minded people I've ever met. We're glad that you're having fun with this wing foiling thing. Good winds to you! -Aaron

Great video. Like the way you present the information. Thank you Just learning and feel like I did 15 rounds of kick boxing after 3 hours in the water yesterday 😂

Thanks so much for the kind words. 🤙🏽 We’re glad you enjoyed the video and found the information helpful. It sounds like you had an intense session out on the water-totally normal when you’re learning. Just think of it as part of the process, and remember, every time you get out there, you're building strength and improving. Keep up the great work, and enjoy the journey. Good winds! -Aaron

What’s missing from this whole discussion is moving your feet back and forth, and that this is close (but not exactly) equivalent to changing the mast position. Gives you immediate feedback as to which way you want to move the mast. Also note that there is a balance point for ideal taxiing (flat board attitude) and a balance point for foiling (average speed) and if they are the same you should’t have to move your feet to get on foil, which is great for beginners. Advanced riders consider other factors (pumping, turning) in determining mast position.

I’m all the way back on my 8’8” and get no lift in flatwater paddle up attempts. I’m going to move 2” forward but… this position tended to make things very unstable… when I was just learning to paddle. Now I’ve got a little better balance but gas out after 15+ strokes.

It sounds like you're making progress with your balance and technique! 🤙🏽 Maybe start with 1/2 inch increments to really dial in on the sweet spot. 2 full inches is a pretty big change in foil position. Hope this helps! -Aaron
