How to wire a 3 prong 12v Illuminated rocker switch

How to wire an LED 3 prong 12v Illuminated toggle switch, Applies to all 3 prong rocker switches, non led switches, basic 3 wire switches. Generally used in 12volt installs for on off control switches. It doesn’t matter where it’s going its all the same electrical.

I have literally been trying to figure out my toggle switch with the wiring that I put in all damn day! The main picture from the video before you click in helped more than anything! I cut off a fuse and wires from a Bluetooth strip light set, hooked that up to the battery, and blew one fuse before I looked at the picture.. hooked it up that way and voilà

So I have one of these switches to operate 2 leds spotlights in series in my campervan i'm building. The wiring is already laid behind the cladding and is inaccessible but I can access the switches wiring. Thing is I want the light on the switch to be ON permanently how would you normally do this do you need to break the negative cable make a three way connection and connect it to the brass terminal on the switch? Thing is I don't think I can access the negative cable, its buried behind the cladding. Could I simply run a short negative cable from the brass terminal of the switch and ground it onto the van chassis nearby? Or would that create a problem for the circuit??

Would it be beneficial to wire these to a 4 pin relay or is that a dumb idea since the switch will have the built in led light connected to pin 30 amd gnd and getting that full amperage anyway?

I want to replace an older on/off nonlighting swith in my RV. I only have two wires to work with coming from my RV, one black and one red. What do I do with the third prong on my new lighted switch?

Take the power, which is the positive to one side of the switch and the other side of the switch to the load. The negative, which is the black to the end of the switch, you will have too black wire one from the switch to the load and the other battery. Hope this helps.

The switch is 12v and not 24v you can get a 120v or 220v but put a fuse in line with your application. Or you can disconnect the light on the switch.

The relay is there to protect you and the bike, the switch isn't waterproof you should get an IP65 / 68 waterproof switch and see the manual for the light for the right fuse.@@daexplorogist1781

Great video. Question...I'm new (self taught) to electrical engineering, repair + maintenance of ebikes. I installed a 4-light system on ebike - backlight, high beam (×1) and low beam (×2). I run everything through a 12v/24v power source (bank). Recently, I decided to add rocker switch (×2) to separate high be from low beam. I noticed that the LED indicators on the rockers will sometimes work, sometimes not but the lights will always work. I've looked for shorts, can't find anything. Power source is rated for 12v/24v. I register 28.5v on multimeter when everything is turned on. Could this be the cause why the rocker lights don't work? I've switched out rockers twice....same result. Hope u can help. Remember that the power going to the switch is 12V. If its not the LED on the switch will not work.

Had to laugh . People . just look at the side on your switch it tells you the contacts ... Not all switches are wired the same as the one in video .
