Excellent video. My only criticism would be to turn the wires around so that when you tighten the screw, the wire loop does not try to open.

Okay, for those that have Aqucal PoolPilot SWG this is what the tech at Aquacal said: Wire the VS pump just like SPL did in the video. The pump is designed to run 24/7, calibrate the % as required to keep chlorine level within guides. The SWG is designed to run 15 minutes out of every hour. Let's say you set it at 50% that means it's generating chlorine 7.5 minutes per hour. It will NOT affect cell wear. If the pump should shut off the SWG will shut down, it has to have water flow (hence the flow switch) to turn the cell on. He said to test chlorine initially closely to calibrate the % and let it run. And it works the same for most if not all VS pumps, meaning if they are wired like in this video. Some are designed with wifi, remote, etc. I hope this helps somebody with this issue, it works well for me!

Question I just installed this pump and my timer has my salt chlorinator and Heater on the same timer. Is it possible to wire the pump to he power input side of the time and then sync the timer for the pool pump and the timer my chlorinator and heater are on so that when my timer for my pool kicks of it doesn’t resent my pump timer. Does that make sense?

The Pentair rep. told me that it comes pre-wired to 220v, and that I'd have to re-connect the wires to the lower voltage; I have 120v. Interesting that both you and the manual say the pump automatically adjusts to whichever voltage it's connected to. I wonder if he misunderstood which model I was talking about. I just had it delivered, and it's the Superflo VS (342001).
@SPL4 жыл бұрын
I bet he just didn't hear you mention it was a Superflo VS. Probably thought you meant the regular Superflo single speed. It will self adjust. 👍

I'm replacing a Pentair 342000 pump with a Pentair 342001. The old pump only had two black wires connected to it, with no ground and bounding wire. Does this sound right?

It sounds like the installer previously cut some corners. Why not purchase a new wire whip with the correct wiring.

Great video. Question ; can the pool timer be completely eliminated since the pump has its own timer ? If so how do wire the pump to the power from the breaker?
@SPL Жыл бұрын
Yes, you would just wire it to a junction box with a GFCI attached to it.

So how do you set this to use the intermatic timer for when to run your pump during the week? You just simply said that you remove that and keep it on at all times, assuming the user wants to let the pump itself set it's run cycle. I don't want that I want the intermatic to turn it on and off. How do you set the pump then to just run when it gets power and so forth like a normal pump should?
@SPL3 жыл бұрын
Just match the intermatic on-off trippers with the pump programming.

Hi, thank you so much for posting these videos! You have saved me so much time and money as I am a new pool owner. I just finished installing this exact pump brand new and it ran great but when I was switching between modes it gave me error 1a. I was able to fix the issue by turning it on and off but later it happened again and I cannot get it to work anymore. The manual says to disassemble the pump and check impeller or mechanical seal. But it is brand new. I also noticed my heater will no longer power on but I don’t know if that’s related.Any idea what it could be?

I have a single speed pump that is controlled by a timer. When the timer turns on, it also turns on the salt system. If I replace the pump with a variable speed pump and leave the old timer always on, is there any worry with the salt system always being on too?
@SPL6 жыл бұрын
Good question. You don't want the salt system on when the pump is off, that is for sure. I will have to check for my rep for you to see how you can do that with the Superflo VS. I know the Jandy 2.0 HP VS pumps has an AUX slot for a salt system to prevent that but not sure about this model. I will let you know.

According to Pentair you cannot connect the VS Pump to the Intermatic Timer and also control when the Salt Cell turns on as it will be on if the timer is "on". Of course it is not good for the cell to be on while the pump is off. The only thing he suggested is to purchase the Sun Touch Automation which is their least expensive. With that you can put the pump on one relay and the salt system on another.Or purchase a seperate timer for the Salt System, but then you have to make sure it will turn on only when the pump is set to run. The only pump that can accommodate a salt system without automation is the Jandy 2.0 HP VS pumps. They have a AUX relay built right into the pump. I filmed a video on this feature. Pentair has no AUX relay in their VS pumps at the moment.

I think it's 4 wires because the wires come from an Intermatic timer, with Green = ground, black = hot, and the 2 blues are from Circuit 1 and Circuit 2. I end up disconnect 1 blue from Circuit 2, and only connect the Green to green, Black and Blue from Circuit 1 to the L1 and L2 of the Superflow VS. Hopefully that's the right wiring.

I did everything but when I turned the breaker back on and turned on the timer, there was no power to the pump. I checked the wires on the back of the motor and the intermatic timer wires too. They seem tight and not blown or damaged. The intermatic timer is moving and I can see the gears moving so I think it's getting power. The lights on the pumps display will flash green a couple times every 3 or 4 seconds but wont stay on. The LCD display doesn't flash 1200 or come on at all. Only the green lights will flash for a half second and go off. I haven't used a volt tester yet. But it seams like the timer box is getting power just not the pump. Any suggestions
@SPL6 жыл бұрын
What was the issue with your old pump? did it burn out? And how old is your breaker box?
@ricomartinez81366 жыл бұрын
Not sure if it burned out. When I turned on the timer manually for the old pump, there was only silence. It didn't turn on. No humming or sound at all. So today I put in the new superflo vs. the breaker seams ok. House was built in 2006. I just bought a volt tester and tested the load and line on the timer. Both read 240. Then tested the back of the motor and it read 0. So I'm guessing the wires from the box to the pump are bad and I might have bought a new pump and motor for nothing because it's just the wiring. Or maybe the pump burned out and effected the wiring. Not sure. But the pump was old and this new VS should be better anyway.. Should I replace whip next maybe?
@SPL6 жыл бұрын
It's possible that is the cause of the old motor burning out - a VS pump is much better. Install a new Conduit - not very expensive. See if that does the trick.
