Thanks, that was very helpful! ♥ Plan to use these to mount my crystal chandelier fixtures to (make those myself). Used to use electrical box covers for that + hanging pendant fixtures, but pendant fixtures cost more and are much longer, increasing number of crystals needed and thus project's cost. This lamp holder with a bulb is only about 5" long vs at least 7-8" for a pendant fixture.

This is an old post but I put one of these up today in the attic and the plug in tester showed open ground. That normal? thanks.

Is there a risk to use this if it has no ground cable attached?

No, the fixture is made entirely of plastic other than the lampholder shell and center pin. We only ground non current carrying components of an electrical system that are made of any kind of conductive materials such as metal.

@@theinternetelectrician thanks for the answer, so if I use this and connect to it a wood and plastic luminaire via a "lightbulb to socket" convert, I should not have any issue since there is no metal.

How about up grading the light holder to be brighter.

This was just to show how to wire a keyless lampholder, like in a closet or a utility room or something. Not a thing of beauty, only function.
