Electrician here. Always use a proper wire connector rated for the application. Always use rated conductors/wire for your incoming electric. Always remember to re-identify your neutral conductor when switching it to a 220. Lastly but most importantly, always keep your shop as clean as this guy. Great content! 👍🇺🇲

Thanks so much. I was trying to wire a booster pump for a well that was 220. I couldn’t figure out where the neutral was supposed to go and it was confusing because the motor plate labeled one of the load lines as neutral. I see now that is only the case if I were to select the lower voltage. Im glad I figured it out by watching your video. I wasn’t about to create a direct short just because of the label, but it was driving me crazy trying to figure out where to put the neutral. Thanks again for clearing the issue up for me.

@HallmarkPoolSupplies
@HallmarkPoolSupplies 2 жыл бұрын
Most motors can be converted from 110v to 220v, However when you wire your motor it has to be wired in accordance to the feed coming in. If you don’t know if you are high voltage or low voltage, then you can use a volt meter. If you want to change the feed you can but it also depends on the type of pump you have (single speed , dual speed, or variable speed) you would want to talk to an electrician, if not, work with what you have.

How can determine if my wiring is 110 or 220 from the previous set up..I'm no electrician there was a pool here and I found how to get power to the recepical at the pool. 1) what power is coming out from the source? 2) so I need to open up the pump motor also to determine the setting? 3) the only thing I know is, 220 has a huge plug compared to a 110. The pump has a small plug and the power source has a small plug but the cord is thick very heavy gage wire.
@HallmarkPoolSupplies
@HallmarkPoolSupplies 4 ай бұрын
By code pumps that plug in are supposed to be 110V. Once you have determined the voltage from the supply then you can change the setting on the motor. If you have a volt meter this will help determine what your feed is. You should have a schematic on the motor so you can convert from 110V to 220V. The newer pumps have a switch in the back of the motor which will allow you to convert from 110V to 220V. Thanks for watching.

If you are able to locate a single speed 2HP motor you can replace just the motor. If you have to replace the entire pump (2HP) then you will have to go with a variable speed pump. @@frankberrios9064 If your feed is 110v, follow the directions on the switch that you buy. Your wire will have one hot line (black), one neutral line (white) and one ground line (green). Make sure the power or cord is off or unplugged before you start, once your switch is hooked up then you can run from the switch to the pump.
