Replacing a dual speed pump with a a manual switch 3 (Black, Red , blue) + 1 ground wires to a 220v dual speed pump has slot for 2 live and a ground. After connecting ground and 2 live assuming black and red were the hot wires tried starting the pump but the pump was not getting powered. Could the blue be hot wire? Thanks in advance.

It's really hard to give advice without seeing what you have. With a 240 set up you need two load wires (~120v) and a ground wire. If you are uncomfortable with getting it working please consult a licensed pool professional or electrician who can come out and evaluate your pool electrical. Thanks for watching.

How does this work at the timer? With it being variable speed obviously the timer isn't needed anymore, but with the salt system being installed you'll need the timer to be able to shut it off when the pump isn't running. That's why I watched this video, was hoping to find an answer if you could help :)

Can a dual speed pump wired for single speed like the old single speed pump

Is there anyway to rewire your aqualink RS control box that was wired to a variable speed pump, to a single speed pump with a capacitor to be able to turn the pump on and off?
@ChlorineKingPoolService3 жыл бұрын
Yes you can. All you’d need to do is put the pump load wires on the load side of the filter pump relay. That will allow you to shut the pump on/off.

I just picked up a Hayward 2603vsp and the wiring is driving me nuts, particularly the wire size. They say 8awg which is stranded but it’s so thick I can’t even get the yellow terminal connectors I need to use on it to even slip on to the wires. My older superpump single speed 230v wasn’t even using an 8 gauge. Can I use anything else safely in a solid wire for 230v? It’s running from the pump to a Tork timer box and I don’t even think that size wire will even fit in the Tork terminal connectors.

I’m assuming you have a 20a breaker for powering the timer/pump?
@toddlevick60167 ай бұрын
Actually they have it on a 30amp from the sub panel to the Tork TU40 timer. The main panel is on a 60amp to the sub panel as well as a 30 amp to the sub panel. I’m assuming the 30amp to the sub panel is being used for the 30 amp breaker at sub to the pool pump. There is a 20amp in the sub which appears to be powering the outdoor lights around the pool as well as a 50amp which I have no clue what that is being used for as it’s always been in the off position. I’m just assuming it was added as a spare for possibly a pool heater in the future. But seeing that’s a 30 amp out to the Tork timer I’m assuming I have to use 10gauge from pump to timer? Hayward doesn’t give much in way of wiring diagram but I’m assuming it would hook up to the Tork in the same blocks as my old Hayward single speed 230v. I would have liked to just get rid of the Tork and put a junction box and wired direct from sub to pump but I also have a Aquarite with a salt cell and I don’t think my Aquarite can hook up to the new pump? Also distance from sub to pump is 30 ft.

We just installed a switch for our pump. We have been running it on the low setting and our pool is getting cloudy. The vacuum is moving super slow. Any advice? Love your video’s.
@ChlorineKingPoolService5 жыл бұрын
Hey Sarah, thanks for watching and I’m glad they are helping. What’s your run time on the slow setting? The slower the pump the less likely the vacuum will work. To me the cloudiness sounds like it’s not running long enough on the slow setting...considering the filter is in good working condition.

I’m looking to change my wires coming from my circuit box that goes to my pool pump. What kind of outside wires do I need? The one that’s out there now has been there since 1987 and it’s old and rusted. What gauge and my pool pump is 3/4 HP with 115/230v

I would recommend a pool contractor or electrician to do this for you. Pool equipment needs 12AWG THHN wire (Cerro Wire found at Home Depot). Use at your own Risk!

do pool pumps run hot to the touch
@ChlorineKingPoolService2 жыл бұрын
It should be warm, not hot like you can’t touch it. If it’s hot to where you can cook eggs on it then it’s starting to wear out. I hope this helps.

Can you run 2 Pentair Variable Speed Pump? Filter and water fall feature? If yes, where do you connect the green and yellow cable to the Aqua logic? Theres only 1 slot for green and yellow cables for 2 green and 2 yellow cables.

I'd prefer to both have their own dedicated 20a breaker wired to a timer. 20a breaker > Timer > Pump. Hope this helps!

Consider me subbed! Awesome video always appreciate the tips an experience! So just to be clear proper voltage is 120 v to each leg correct? So both hot? And doesn’t matter which L it goes too?

Only reason I ask is because I see on the side of a VSF intelliflo that is says L1 should be live and L2 should be neutral and I’m trying to resolve my curiosity on the subject lol
