I bought a Wheelock E70 speaker strobe. The strobe works great, however there is no sound. I hooked up power to both sides. Should the chime work as is or does it require additional accessories? Thank you.

E70 or CH70? The E70 is the speaker strobe variant that requires an audio source like an amplifier or voice evacuation panel to sound; the CH70 is the chime strobe variant that only requires 24VDC

Depends on the amplifier. Some have connectors that have pigtail wires that connect to the speakers. Some have terminals screws that require separate wires to connect from the amplifier to the speakers. Remember, brighter colors indicate positive(+), and darker colors represent negative(com or -)

You can find decent as well as cheap amplifiers on eBay and Amazon. You also can wire an aux cord straight to the speaker, but since these speakers take a lot of volts/watts, you're going to need an amplifier to drive them in order to get some decent volume out of them.
