To clear up the remote wire wonders.. this works just like the amp. It gets CONSTANT power from the same constant power the AMP gets. When the radio plays music, the LOC detects that sound input and makes a SIGNAL output for your amp to know when to turn on. The amp only turns on when the rear speakers have power. The only parasitic draw there will be, is from the LOC itself which is comparable to a few LED diodes, not an issue unless the vehicle is parked for weeks and weeks. Great video!!

My wife has a 2020 Kia forte Lxs and she wants to run a sub in the back I have all of the stuff to do it I even ordered a wire harness that plugs directly into the factory radio and from then on it plugs directly into the factory wire harness so you do not have to splice any wires and with it has a line out converter and a remote control blue wire. On eBay it was like $31 and it's basically plug and play for that part of it. The power wire and blue remote wire and RCA has to be ran through your panels and then panels snap back in place The only hard part was trying to find a location to run the power wire through on the firewall but once I figured that out it was all simple. The power wire was the hardest to be honest. Even if it did not include a blue remote wire you can always hook up your blue remote wire to a fuse in the fuse box for accessory or radio itself. I hooked my blue remote wire in my truck to the stereo fuse in the fuse box so when I turn on my truck the amp turns on. Very simple just a little bit time consuming.

Quick question I got the kicker version of this loc which has the remote wire. But my question is, is it OK to tap into the stock OEM subwoofer connection? Is it too much power for that little device or will it be OK? It’s the stock amp and subwoofer plug in the back of the mega cab behind the seats . Just because it’s easy to access is why I’m asking.
According to this video I linked the subwoofer is the best option.

No, the amp only turns on when a signal is sent through the rear speakers (only when radio is on and playing music) the LOC itself may have a small draw tho. Power and ground are 80% never needed for a loc unless you hear engine noises coming from your speakers then you will need to ground the loc to the vehicles chasis not directly to your amp !!! The shorter the ground wire is the better results you will get , Premium or non premium systems should not make a difference on a loc check your wires make sure your amos ground is firmly bolted to the chasis check your loc speaker connection you might have tapped into the tweeters instead of the actual speakers I hope This helps

??? Have a Cadillac CTS with a factory amplifier no problem I have is no sound coming out due to the factory amplifier but there's a way of hooking up something where it will work again I believe?

Confused on the yellow and Blue. Pretty sure you’ve got the blue wire going straight from LOC to amp correct? Then the yellow wire to the power used for the amp. Is this correct? Seems like the blue wire would need to turn on somehow.

Man I don’t know how it all works down to the science lol but all I know is when the radio powers on it powers to the LOC which turn on amp !

Can I hook the LOC wire straight to the speaker or should I splice into the wire that's already connected to the speaker

I did the wiring as you suggested and it works but the light on my amp doesn’t turn off. Where could I add a toggle switch
@moderatemods983 жыл бұрын
So mine shuts off when my car turns its power off to the radio , about 2 mins you could add a switch the the power wire though bro and that would shut off on command!

Best video 🔥🙏 so I can do this on my 2018 Ford Focus ? And I don’t have to take out the factory radio to do any wiring? Obviously the sub amplifier you power it to your battery and run the ground so that’s it right?

I just took my car to get sub with built in amp installed....it stopped working, it has power but no sound....on the convertor theres a lil black chord not connected to anything is that fine?? Or what do you think is the problem?
@moderatemods983 жыл бұрын
That may be the sound switch bro the shop should be Able to diagnose the issue !

The black wire should be the ground and that would be why it's wasn't working

Did you have to run a remote wire from the fuse to the amp and from the amp to the Loc?

Won’t it create more load on those tiny wires? Do we need thick wires or these tiny wires can take the load? Did you found any issues so far like sub cutting off in between?
@moderatemods983 жыл бұрын
My wires are not for high output amps , but with my set up they work fine and no no cuff offs or any problems like that !
@elliotlaw15903 жыл бұрын
the main loads are on the amps positive and negative wires, which are thicker anyway, the line into the LOC is the same loads as the standard speakers run off, hence why just standard speaker wire is plenty enough, then after your amp or sub depending on what your wiring, is where the higher loads will be, so if you have an amp to a passive subwoofer for example, but then you dont need to worry about the loads so much because the RCA output on the amplifier feeds a signal to the passive sub, and RCA cables which come with your amp or sub will be more than capable of handling the higher loads anyway

If you don’t have rear deck speakers and I have to access the rear door speakers is there a way to do it before the wiring passes through the door, like can you access it in the pillar somewhere?
@moderatemods983 жыл бұрын
If you have rear speakers in the door, there should be a channel that the wires for those speakers run through, run your wires through that channel for a hidden clean look

So as long as the LOC has a +12v connection the rem is good.? Dose that just work for the LOC you have iv been tryin figure out were to hook this up with out tapping in the fuse box i have the Adjustable line output converter with volume knob Metra Model: WM-LOCKN

What happens if we don’t connect left and right speaker wires to the loc? So to say I just hook up my left door speaker only to the loc and not both since I’ll only have one sub running.
@moderatemods984 жыл бұрын
It will give you only left side sub hit bro not an equal bass so I still say do both even if you only have 1 sub
@freakboinate824 жыл бұрын
You need to run off BOTH Left and Right speakers or it won’t sound right!! It doesn’t matter if your running 1 sub or 8 subs you need signal from both sides!!
@Red_dot_randy3 жыл бұрын
You just need to hook it up to one speaker, connect both +’s from the loc and both -‘s wires from loc and connect to 1 rear 6x9.

I have a 250w road gear 2-channel mosfet amplifier. My subs will not power on anymore and I believe I have all of the LOC wired correctly in my amp but I am confused on the yellow power cord. Where do i connect my power cable that is connected to my battery if the yellow cord on the LOC is connected to the +12v power connector per the instructions on the website I bought it from. It is a recoil RCA Line output converter if that helps any
