OK, I gotta be the first to say it. The out take with Mrs Jeff saying “700 horse power” and then the purr....gold! Keep going mate, nearly there with the body work.

Jeff you should shave the lines on the valve cover back to bare metal too. Looks a bit odd with just the NISSAN-OHC part. But up to you of course. I found a heat gun really helped with the wrinkle finish and gave it a real consistent look and feel.

I like just the Nissan showing. Cause everyone does the lines. Or maybe do them in a different colour.

Nice job on the valve cover. In cold temperatures I've used a heat gun to speed up the curing of wrinkle paint.

Nice job I use a dust extractor,it will change your life I recommend the mirka one. Also papers will last longer and you won't need a mask. mirka do a couple nice sanders which will also help but always hand finish as you are doing.

You gotta try the spray on filler. Its life changing. I put it on thick as and then just knock it back. I only use the regular filler for getting the bigger dents out. By the time I put on a urethane surfacer things are already pretty straight.

Hi Jeff, great vids as always. As others have said below, get yourself some Durablocks, with a roll of appropriate sticking P40-180 grades. I assure you it will speed up your bodywork immediately. I use the indasa paper for my durablocks, its awesome and cheap from the "Sandpaper Man" (google him). I'd also add that using better quality abrasives will also assist you. Something like 3M purple clean sanding paper or disks will improve upon this even more. A better quality filler will also assist mate, as will be easier sanding. I 100% recommend 3M Platinum Plus and to be honest is only about $10 dearer than the 4CR stuff, but is way better sanding, lower pinholes etc. Hope this helps mate.

Jeff, why not sand blasting the oil sump + rockers cover...? Quicker to do + no more rust nor corrosion + you benefit from better paint adhesion.Try it and you'll love it 😉 Moreover you already have a sand blasting cabinet... 🙄

Stick with it mate. Its looking good.. if your not 100% happy with the filler you can always spay on a polyester to level the surface, fill those small imperfections, and pinholes

Hey Jeff not to knock what you are doing but when you keep going over the same spots with fiberglass filler and keep sanding it the same way you are going to get the same results, meaning high and low spots. when doing a guide coat you need to sand in a cross hatch pattern to level out your uneven panels try sanding in a X manner you will have a much more even outcome. I enjoy your video's keep up the good work.

I want to do this with my Sprint cam cover. On a side note, I see you rock AirPods too, aren't they just the best for working on cars? no more cables to get caught in drills or angle grinders!

The wrinkle paint is so easy to use. I amy do another coat and hit is with a heat gun to get it wrinklier. As for the AirPods, that is what made me finally get them. A week or so ago I got the cord of my others wrapped in a grinder. I am amazed at how good the AirPods are.

I found the AirPods somewhat likely to fall out of my ears, and I secured them with a set of "EarBuddyz 2.0." Took the AirPods from comfortably to downright cozy.
@HomeBuiltByJeff
@HomeBuiltByJeff 6 жыл бұрын
They look good, but do you have to take them on and off every time you charge them? They have fallen out a couple of times when I take off my jumper or my ear muffs. I don't want to break them by dropping them on the floor too many times.
@computiNATEor
@computiNATEor 6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, you must take them off to put the AirPods back in the case, and they do get a little loose over time. There are two sets of them in each package, so if you lose one it's not a huge deal. They do provide a tiny bit of impact resistance if they do fall out of your ear.

Fun fact with not Mrs Jeff: instead of squandering eight bucks on an empty bottle why not rummage under the kitchen sink to see which domestic cleaner comes in a trigger pack with an adjustable nozzle. Thus it is free and you can buy a retro 'feu orange' for one of your mighty steeds.

Why does the body work on the Nissan seem to take so much effort compared to the 911? Thinner steel or just the condition of the cars? The Porsche didn't seem to need half as much body filler and tinkering to get right!
@HomeBuiltByJeff
@HomeBuiltByJeff 6 жыл бұрын
Because the 911 was cleaner to start with, and half of the panels were new and straight to begin with. Just the doors and the roof really on the 911.
