The main problem I am currently facing with my novels is creating the covers, especially in manga style. I can draw, but my skills are not there yet and lockdown run me a bit too dry to commission proper cover arts. Artbreeder is a life saver in many ways, but it's only good enough for creating young girl characters. I managed to create a half-good male lead face claim after a month of torture. And that's obviously not enough. And I have no less then five novels under production. Is there some advice for my situation?

i am starting my own light novel series and so i want to know how many words should be in a single chapter and how many chapters are in a single volume... I will show you the description of the online light novel :in a world were demons run a mock there is said to be the demon king or devil who is the ruler of the now demon infested earth and the humans now live in air colonies (cities that float in the air) the boy named homa who has forgotten everything about his past for being given the power to be the host for many legendary souls of the past by God, he goes to travel this world in order to defeat the demon king and find the truth about his past. i want to get feedback on this description, the name of this web novel is THE HOST OF LEGENDS on wattpad (still writing the first chapter). the story would include academic life, fights, even some corruption in the government which i am thinking about.... please send feedback and if possible even visiting the novel when the first chapter comes out nice video btw it really helped me out :)

Hello! When it comes to light novels, the words in a Chapter can vary. Instead, focus more on the overall word count. The overall word count for a light novel is about 50,000 words. However, the length of the chapters are more up to you. I would personally recommend having about 1000-3000 words per chapter, and about 18-20 chapters per book. Also, I love the sound of your story. It is really unique, and I love the idea that the main character can be the host of the various legendary souls. I will definitely check it out on Wattpad! 😊 I am so happy my video helped you! Thank you so much for watching. 💖 By the way, I am hoping to create more videos on Light novel writing in the future. Out of curiousity, what kind of light novel tutorial videos do you think you'd be interested in?

I think light novels are good for people who want to write their own story/build a Wattpad portofolio but they don't have much time to craft a highly planned proses or long paragraphs This is what I'm doing now. Rather than wasting my time too much browsing for the correct phrases and description, I'll just write the simplest thing first, do the editing here and there on the evening, and continue with my other activities. A chapter update is still a chapter update nonetheless :D

im completely new to writing and ive been heavily inspired by series such as the emotional impact of Re:Zero and the careful and amazing worldbuilding of Moshoku tensei, i love how they introduce characters in a way that either makes you hate them, mistrust them, or like them right off the bat. And the amazing mysterious wonder of Made in Abyss and how it makes me feel so much for the characters. I know as a beginning writing i will never make a masterpiece from the start, but i hope with the help I've gotten from the writing community that i will eventually make something that is definitely not a masterpiece, but rather something that i am proud of.

im about to make an over powered character. cause Im bored. name: Lord Lloyd Knoll Westenra simple abilities: 1size manipulation-this skill allows him to change his size or any size or shape of any other organism/entity in existence. 2.pure ember- this move allows him to burn anything it does nt matter immortal or not. 3 pure darkness- this skill allows him to store anything he wants in an endless dimension this even implies to souls or even other people. 4 fates judgement- this allows him to judge fate its self this also allows him to change fate to what ever he wants. this move can also be used a counter to enemies as it allows him to change the fate this could lead to him even changing the fate of the birth of any enemy he encounters PASSIVE ABILITIES: 1 immortality- I do not need to explain this do I 2 infinite regeneration 3 dominating aura- this skill effects the enemy by shutting down the mind-what do i mean by this-if you come close to he can basically stop the mind form working this leads to lack of movement and leaving you as the enemy defense less. 4 indestructible- he can survive over infinite universes when they are imploding or even reality 5 anti control-this allows him not to ever be any mind control or be forced to to anything form anyone . hope you understand this explanation 6 omniscient- he knows everything lol HACKS ABILITIES 1 RAVA- this skill allows him to destroy anything he wishes from infinite universes to even reality. this skill can also be used in its higher skilled form: 1.5:Infinite RAVA: this is a higher skill that allows him to destroy an enemies body and soul and infinite amount of times. due to this the foe who will experience this will feel a SHIT TONNE OF PAIN FOR AN INIFINITE AMOUNT OF TIMES 2 DIMIOURGIA: this skill allows him to create anything for an unlimited amount of times this means that he can create an infinite amount of universes or even gods or to an extent of even making omni gods. 3 delete : HE CAN FUCKING DELETE YOU IF HE WANTED TO LOL- this is a weaker version of RAVA as this is just a fun way of him ending his enemies 5:vangistus- this is a skill that he made for no reason as he wanted to imprison the king of hell. this skill imprison the target and disables or there abilities 6Lactora- this is a form that he also made for no reason to cure his boredom as he uses this form to fight enemies he wanted he can break reality with on serous tap of his finger. 7liialdus- he can eat anything form mortals to gods or even omigods to even begins that transend that of space and time to even reality it self he can eat all MORE SHIT: 1transfiguration- he is able to change to who ever he pleases to or completely change the face or memories of the target 2 omniscient speed- this allows him to move at the speed of pure flex-oh he is also able to play pool with light it self 3 teleportation 4historical touch 5 mind control 6 skill cancel-able to cancel any ultimate skill he pleases 7 space and time manipulation. 8 30 dimensional ok so that's all my brain could think of rank this character with others idk

I read a reddit comment about it. At first you describe everything in detail, but as you go on the shorter these combat descriptions get (this is mostly focused on magic combat). So as an example, in the first fight you'd detailed how a small ball would form at the fingertip of the protag and then in an instant it would shoot forwards, while in later fights you can just say "Protag threw 3 fireballs at the evil person, which they dodged at inhuman speeds." Something like that.

I would love a story designed to American Audience with an American Setting in a Light Novel style. Does it has to have Japanese reference to be one? Light Novel is particular. The focus on action, dialogue and inner-thought combined with character-focus is interesting. Lately, I read a LN extract that is like slow-paced like we are living the scene or following the character on each second but the execution make it entertaining. It isn't slow and heavy unlike the Chinese Webnovel where Info-Dump serve nothing but to bloat.

When I search on Google if, can I write and publish an Illustrated LN, it says if I want to publish novel with illustration I need a japanese publisher for it and as long as I don't malevolently use Japanese culture/things, japanese will be indifferent or even be happy for it. So, can't I publish novel with illustration if its not go through Japanese Publisher? I mean, some people says, Japanese LN only have illustrated novel, regardless of Author's country, if you want to Publish LN, I need a Japanese publisher

Great video, I haven't seen anyone else going over the topic of English light novels. One think I would like to point out is that most novels (including light novels) are actually written in the third person. This is because is helps to clarify exactly what is happening and if feels smoother to the reader, and most people don't notice most books are written like this. As an example: "I've had enough, I can't take this anymore" Subaru gritted his teeth in frustration Reads better than "I've had enough, I can't take this anymore" I gritted my teeth in frustration Take a look at the last book you read (light novel or not) and you'll probably notice this. It's not universal but it is significantly more common to use third person

I've been debating about starting getting into manga but motivation issues and my own drawings got in the way. That being said, I heard it's good to first start off with light novels then work into manga creation, as ultimately I really want to not only bring my ideas to life but also hopefully get a anime adaptation. So I'm planning on trying to get into looking into and possibly get into making a light novel. Thanks for helping break it down! If anyone is curious or maybe would like to talk about a partnership, lmk. I'm also down to just chat, listen to ideas or tips. Heck, if anyone has any Light novel suggestions for me to check out, I'd appreciate it.

This was awesome. Really great info. I’ve been brainstorming with no intention of writing anything since 2016. Recently as a form of therapy for myself I started writing down all the ideas I had still with no real intentions. in the last month that has changed dramatically. At this point I’ve created several dozen characters and I’ve actually started writing what would be the first volume of this hypothetical series. I’m roughly 15k words in. I would love to have somewhat of a dialogue with you if you have the time and would be so kind. Maybe through email. Even reading a bit of my work so far to see if I’m on the right track if that’s something you’d be interested in after hearing the details. Thanks for uploading so much great content for me to check out and take care!

It’s where two sisters called Hannah and Nylee are twin foxes that were separated from each other when the enemy stole them from their Heavenly kingdom. They now live in two different fox flower kingdoms called Roseheart kingdom where the red foxes live and the Snowdropheart kingdom where the Arctic foxes lives. Their enemies are preventing them to find each other. And they have to earn their own foxhearts by protecting their own kingdoms from the evil hyenas and foxes called Nogitsunes

Thanks for this helpful video. I had story idea when I was in the bus and so I thought of writing a light novel. I don't have a title for it yet but it is a story about a family which is being attacked by an organisation. This organisation is after the female generation of the family for some secret reasons. The mother of 3 children (2 sons and one daughter) died because she was killed by the organisation. The father of them is the only family they have left. It is their task to protect the one girl and so that's the basic idea but it is much more than that. The past of the family, the founding of the organisation, their goals and why they need the female generation of this family will be revealed in the story step by step. It is a story about family, cohesion, love, secrets and inner darkness. Your video helped me so much, thanks to you. I hope I can publish this story in the future and also...sorry for my bad english haha. Greetings from germany Edit: I'm also sorry for the rough summary of my story idea but it is still in progress and I need more time to make a detailed plan of it

Quick question: How am I able to post a english Light Novel to a Japanese website novel publishing?
@OmniPub-ZSaya
@OmniPub-ZSaya 4 жыл бұрын
How do you know if your story should be a manga or light novel? I have so much world building, a giant cast, a corrupt government they are fighting, romance subplots and an extensive magic system. The goal is to eventually have it adapted into an anime series, and I have about 6 seasons outlined with overarching plots throughout the entire series as well as plots within each season. I cannot draw, so I would either have to learn how to draw (unlikely) or hire a permanent artist to stay with me for YEARS while this series is made (expensive and where do I even find a manga artist with a unique style?). OR I could go the light novel route, but I’m afraid it would leave out far too much or jar the reader with all the head hopping as it follows a giant cast including main characters, villains and government officials. This project is huge and will take years to complete, HELPPP!!!!! I have also considered making it a regular novel series, but I know for a fact that I want visuals for this story. Love your videos by the way, never stop. Your content is incredibly helpful and insightful.

I think light novel route is more possible. First, you can publish story in online platform to gather readers and fans. I was doing that and many of my readers make a fanart of my novel character. After you gather so many fans, you can make your online novel in to a real book light novel. They'll buy your LN if they really love your story. Of course you must rent an illustrator to make a light novel, make sure to rent a good ones. After your story becomes real light novel, there is a little possibility that your LN becomes popular in your country, if you're lucky maybe then any japanese person want to translate your LN to japanese. If you're lucky again, your LN becomes popular in Japan and becomes best seller. After that, the final ending, your LN will be adapted in to anime series. Sorry for long answer. Those are my analysis if someone that not japanese wanted their story became an anime series. I am too. But i think, the chance will be very very hard.
@midnightXcross
@midnightXcross 4 жыл бұрын
I agree with Jui, I believe that a light novel is a much easier option to begin with, especially if it is a longer series. Even in a light novel, you can still divide it into Chapters, and have multiple volumes, which will help to tell such a large story. In many cases, stories start out as light novels, before being adapted into a manga, and then into an anime. If you want to put as much detail into your story as possible, and without having to hire an artist, then I think creating a light novel first is the best way to start. I hope this helps. Also, thank you so much! I'm so happy you enjoy my videos. 😊

I recently watched your video and noticed that light novels are typically around 50,000 words. This was eye-opening because we've been working on a harem isekai light novel similar to "Konosuba," and have reached 256,492 words. We originally structured it into three volumes of about 100,000 words each. However, after watching your video, we realized that a shorter, more concise novel might be more engaging for our readers. Your video really helped us out a lot by highlighting this important aspect. Our novel is still in its first draft and features extensive world-building. The story primarily focuses on a few key locations, with the only time montage occurring in the first volume, which covers about a month of the main character learning to survive in the new world. This approach allows readers to deeply connect with the protagonist and the new world he's navigating. We prefer a detailed, slow-burning writing style, emphasizing character interactions to drive the plot. Even though our series is long, the pace remains steady with bursts of fast-paced action scenes to keep readers engaged. We're trying to streamline our writing process because we have so many different stories we want to write, and it can sometimes feel overwhelming. Balancing multiple projects while maintaining high-quality writing is a constant challenge. We have some of our stories posted on Wattpad, Scribblehub, and Webnovel, but it often feels like there aren't enough hours in the day to keep up. New ideas keep popping up constantly, adding to the challenge. Typically, we write in arcs, and once we finish an arc, we move on to the next story to avoid burnout. Right now, we're revising all our postings on Wattpad, Scribblehub, and Webnovel to improve them, with most of our reads coming from Scribblehub. We believe that constant improvement is key to maintaining reader interest and satisfaction. We stick to this format-Exposition, Rising Action, Climax, Falling Action, Denouement-when we write our arcs, applying it thoughtfully to each story we create. This structure not only keeps our narratives well-paced but also ensures they are engaging from start to finish. Your insights have been incredibly valuable in refining our approach and truly making our stories better. Your video gave us some great ideas on how to enhance our work, and we are genuinely grateful for that guidance. Thank you for sharing your expertise and helping us improve our storytelling. Sorry for the long rant.

It sounds like you have a lot of really good ideas! I think it would make sense to release your series in shorter light novel style books. Within the isekai genre, I think it would really help to focus on the action in each volume. If you don't mind me asking, what is your series called? I would love to check it out on Wattpad!
