Nice work on summarizing things up. If I am to add to that I would recommend using third person as writing style when the story involves many characters where there is many scenes that doesn't involve the protagonist. One of the sides that I still need to improve is blending description and dialogue. Although I try to do so but still I can see more improvement that need to be done there, perhaps I need to extend my vocabulary. Anyway just wanted to say good work on this one. And wish you the best.
@midnightXcross3 жыл бұрын
I completely agree! I think third person allows a lot of opportunity to show a larger variety of characters in far more detail. Thank you so much for watching! I wish you all the best also 😊

I am writing a regular American novel and i don't set word goal. I tried setting one like 250 to 500 words a day but i felt like it was rushed and boring since I was just writing down words to try and achieve the goal. I instead just decided to keep track of how many words i wrote so i could put some actual thought into them. On a bad day, it is only about 300 and on a good day, it is 1,500.

@@midnightXcross i can explain why, like i can show you all the notes i was taking and stuff and i actually almost comment to ask if you can do this somewhat, maybe i did do that but not sure, because i kinda told myself not to rely on others a bit, but basically i had a plan in mind to achieve this on my own. Btw, i almost fell asleep while trying to watch this video for some reason, and went to a proper bed to take a nap but wasn’t able to go back to sleep. So i ended up getting up and going out and getting coffee and back now and watching the video. I was saying that to say that maybe your voice might be able to help me sleep or something Also the light novel i was trying to study to learn how best write and format a light novel was Dan Machi light novel. I really like how they written it. Because its like i can visualize how it was adapted to a anime and manga easy. The main thing i thought that was important was to covey the story point going from one point to another. Which is obvious. But like every progression that can happen its best to recognized them and make sure each point moves to the other in a interesting way. I been trying to translate what makes a good manga to transfer over to light novel writing Also I’m sure you know about how Manga is Characters. It is said to learn from movies and shows and other media to how to make a good manga as well and i think that is so true. Because i was watching a remake of a show and the remake was just focusing on the plot, and i was not able to feel the impactful moments that was happening because the characters was off. Well actually i wasn’t quite sure why i was not feeling it. So i went back to watch the original show and i was amaze at how originally and carefully detailed, the characters were and how the plan the character movements in a way sensible to them. The Shows I’m talking about is Dead Set & Reality Z

At 7:55 isn't that still simple past? If I would write in present tense, I'd probably have it like this: "I am walking up the main street, smiling at people as I pass them. It is a beautiful day, and the sun is shining down on me." English isn't my native language, so I'm not 100% sure on that.

My whole story is from the memories of a humanoid creature found on the moon The whole story is of the ancient past full of magic and space travel Mostly the story takes place within a planet 5x the size of Jupiter but it supports life This life once dominated half of the planet but the other half was inhabitable and served only as the location of a large underground prison with multiple smaller prison entries at the top which are guarded heavily looking like a large step pyramid made of an unknown obsidian like material There is so much lore and stuff I really wanna go more into detail with but I'm just not feeling it at the moment

What do you do if you have like 6 characters speaking? It would be hard to read wouldnt it?
@midnightXcross Жыл бұрын
I think it would be fine, as long as you don't have them all speaking at once. :) You can break up the lines of dialogue by showing what a character is doing or how they are saying something. For example: Kiyomi nodded solemnly. "Yes, we will need to come up with a better plan." Isla and Penny looked at each other, both deep in thought. "We could just sneak in there..." Isla pondered out loud. Mira glared at her. "We would get caught straight away!" "Well, I think we should just walk through the front door," Tristan said, "No one would be expecting that." Everyone looked at him in silence for a moment. "That could work," Opal replied with a smile.

I'm confident in saying most fanfiction is not told in Second Person POV. Most fanfiction is in third or first person POV. Second person POV is somewhere between rare and uncommon in subgenres where they occur (reader/X, self-inserts) and nowhere to be seen in most other subgenres. I'd wager less than 1 percent of fanfics are 2nd person pov. People have enough misconceptions about derivative fiction as things stand. No need to add to it by ascribing it with exotic writing styles.
