Currently a Dietetic Intern and today was week one of my clinical rotation. This video was a nice review as it has been two years since I have been in MNT (I am in a combined Master's degree/Internship program).

Hi Kim great video. I have been a dietitian for 3 years and sometimes struggle with PES statements (some patients you know there is a problem but cause and/or signs/symptoms may not be so clear cut). My resource that I use is IDNT book [International Dietetics and Nutrition Terminology (IDNT) Reference Manual] (now online eNCPT) and the academy of nutrition and dietetics offers an online course on the topic ( you can get credit hours for). At the end of the day it all boils down to practice practice practice :)

Yes it does. Practice is the key.

It takes practice indeed. It took me a little bit to get the hang of it. It's normal.

I enjoyed the breakdown of the PES statement. I’m a grad student who struggled with the PES statement as well. My biggest problem is the Etiology. I noticed you did not give an example of the Etiology. Can you provide an example of the Etiology?

Great content. I struggle writing ADIME note. How to find chief nutritional complaints, when there are not many specifications given?

Great Video. Like it. For a new admitted, when PES can take place? And how often?

Wow. We stopped using PES statements here back in 2014. The only facility that uses them is the nursing home
@KimRoseDietitian7 жыл бұрын
Wow that's interesting. The company I work for actively uses them and we have thousands dietitians across the nation.

a Q about the example, the E should be something we as dietitians can resolve or improve, isn’t it? Can we resolve that pain?

Can you do a video calculating TPN (& EN too)?
@KimRoseDietitian7 жыл бұрын
Good idea. Had this one in mind for a while. Still brainstorming the proper delivery route. Pen and paper seems a little archaic seeing I do t have a white board no apparatus for a downward camera angle... Any suggestions??

Kim Rose Dietitian maybe you can record a tablet screen and use a stylus on a blank notes page? I think that may be as simple as a single cord, but I have no experience with it myself.

This isn't about PES Statements but what do you think a good salary starting off would be for a dietitian with no experience and bachelor's degree??
