I just got my results back yesterday. I followed this structure, my supervisor told me that it was a wonderful EE. I got a C. Tbh, I dont realy care as I got 2 points from core and another point wouldnt change anything to me. Just wanted to share this to show that following this structure doesnt guarantee an automatic A or B.

Well I suppose the IBO enjoys reading original a little more, but I suppose you'd still get the marks for a little more common essay. One tip I think is really helpful for achieving top marks is primary research, apart from listing all the theories etc, just walk around your city and obtain some primary research like surveys or personal observation. I think that is the key part in the EE, that way you show the examiners that you actually did care about the EE.

After several attempts to try and write an Econ EE in Macroeconomics I decided to come back to this video as my first draft is now due in 2 weeks. Ok, so I have to say this outline is far to simple and non-advanced to write a full, high level essay. So instead I recommend, picking a firm in an industry and analyzing that firm, their strategy, and how it relates to the market structure they are in. For instance, I wrote about Tesla Inc. in the Automobile market and how they used innovation to combat economies of scale.

@@spongebozz8704 so IB puts out reports each year that summarizes the examiners' feedback. The problem with the market structure EEs is the answer to the question tends to be pretty obvious and if the answer is obvious, it's not going to be a good paper. They describe more than they analyse. With the way they grade the EEs now, it will be hard to do well in all the Criteria, especially in engagement. So if IB is saying "stop doing this because the quality of the papers is usually not good," you should probably attempt something else.

@@erico2588 IBO makes the report available to teachers and coordinators of the IB programs. Your supervisor should be able to share that with you. I don't know that it is publically available. I can tell you this though: that research question is very descriptive and more than likely will not get you an A.

Just a quick question to make sure i'm not going crazy. Isn't it impossible for cr2 to be 80% because the largest firm dominates 30% of the industry therefore cr2 would have to be 60% or less given that the second largest firm cannot dominate a larger percentage of the industry than the first largest firm?
