Addition of a general marketing concept - recently viewed a FB Live All-Star Cast Zoom Table Read of Fast Times At Ridgemont High. It was for a Covid-related charity benefitting front line and first responder work. Except for Shia LaBouf as Spicolli, most of the cast didn't fit the roles. They were much older than the roles they were reading. This seemed strategic - to attract a certain demographic more likely to have the funding available to give. Using actors who would appeal to anybody who saw the original meant it was read much differently than if actual current high schoolers had read it, but it also meant that the cast would totally get the references made by the movie script and pacing. Choosing a film, cast, and medium (FB) of broadcast helped maximize their investment for those funds spent on such high level talent for charity dollars. We often remind each other to tailor our message but since video is getting so big in marketing, I think it's fascinating to discuss the bigger pictures we are part of. The lengths gone to to research and a storyboard that reading to pitch it must have been phenomenal. It was a great idea and a fun thing to listen to for an hour and a half before my kids woke up while I worked.

Alex, I've got a question. Do you need to know SEO in order to optimize social media posts and product descriptions? I'm a conversion copywriter and this question really bugs me. If so, are free SEO tools enough for keyword research or do you need to buy paid ones?

Great question! SEO on social media posts is a little different than standard SEO. I suggest doing some research specific to the platforms you are posting on, as the practices are different for each platform. No need to spend money to find this information. :)

Can you explain the difference between copy righting and brand ambassador?

A copywriter specializes in marketing, and their sole purpose is to have the audience follow through with a clear CTA... A brand ambassador is hired by a brand to simply represent the brand in a positive light. They aren't really required to sell or market the product, although they could definitely use copywriting if they want to push more sales for the brand (aka likely making themselves more money in return)

No! Using eye-catching templates and designs can definitely help grab people's attention, but it's not necessary at all!

I feel like a lot of content like this focuses on B2B or selling courses to people in your same niche. So a lot if the advise seems easier to apply to those scenarios, I.e. sharing your favorite tools. What if you have a skilled service based business like a lash artist or you’re a contractor? Do you still say, oh my favorite tools are these tweezers that you’ll never need or this hammer..?

Depends on the brand you're working for! Some brands might want a copywriter to help in the DMs as "DM closer" or to set up automated messages, etc. But managing the everyday DMs wouldn't really fall under a copywriter's typical job responsibilities unless it directly related to selling, etc.
