How would you go about recording something like this? Do I change the time signature setting in my daw?

You have to pick one of the time signatures to commit to. So in my example everything is written in 4/4 but the guitar part is in 7/8 even though it’s written in 4/4 if that makes sense.

My friend loves this music but I find it's boring and unoriginal. There's thousands of bands that all sound exactly like that. I'll learn to do it just for shits and giggles but It really is overdone. Music needs melody just as much as rhythm
