I think this is a great example of how sometimes simple is best. People have and always will mock anything that comes across as really basic but what they’re missing is all the other things that go into making a great pop tune.

I love the CP series pianos, but honest to God I've never played one where the low notes were in tune. Even the Waves CP 80 plugin has badly out of tune lower notes. I still love them though!

wow, and I over complicate myself trying new chords, trying to push boundaries and this young man with a Cp-70 I wish I had is making the dream by playing the bass notes.

How is using complicated chords pushing boundaries? Also most people who listen to the radio have no interest in what chords are being used. A lot of people just want to hear something catchy they can sing/dance along to. These guys use some interesting production techniques that this particular video doesn’t convey. The bass notes are just to get the ideas flowing and I don’t think they’d have any hits if that’s all there was to it.

why I can't fint ''9 rules of hit songwriting'' by mike caren?

## Mike Caren's hit formula 1. First it starts with an expression of ‘Hey,’ ‘Oops,’ ‘Excuse me,'” 2. Second is a personal statement: ‘I’m a hustler, baby,’ ‘I wanna love you,’ ‘I need you tonight.’ 3. Third is telling you what to do: ‘Put your hands up,’ ‘Give me all your love,’ ‘Jump.’ 4. Fourth is asking a question: ‘Will you love me tomorrow,’ ‘Where have you been all my life,’ ‘Will the real Slim Shady please stand up.'” 5. Five is logic which could be counting, or could be spelling or phonetics: ‘1-2-3-4, let the bodies hit the floor,’ or ‘Ca-li-fornia is comp-li-cated,’ those kind of things. 6. Six would be catchphrases that roll off the tip of your tongue because you know them: ‘Never say never,’ ‘Rain on my parade.’ 7. Seven would be what we call stutter, like, ‘D-d-don’t stop the beat,’ but it could also be repetition: ‘Will the real Slim Shady please stand up, please stand up, please stand up.’ 8. Eight is going back to logic again, like hot or cold, heaven or hell, head to toe, all those kind of things. 9. The ninth rule of hit songwriting is silence.

Never realized how little talent you need to write a hit song. No instrumental, vocal, or musical talent needed. Literally anyone can do it. This guy proves it. Guess it’s all in “Who you know”

I know what you mean, but as soon as he started singing, I could just hear the hit sing straight away, like " I know that song ". He might not he musically talented, but he has an ear for what will make the right kind of product.

You can be the most musically gifted musician there is but in the music business if you dont have connections your music wont matter b3cause what sells is what the music industry says will sell .its a business after all. Only what they say is "popular" or "top 10 billboard" is what will be hot 🔥

This comment makes no sense if you watched the video. He played notes on the piano (instrumental). He sang over the top of it (vocal). Talent does not necessarily equate to good song writing. I have friends who are very musically talented but probably couldn’t write a catchy song to save their life. Pretty much anyone CAN write a song but you don’t get to where this gentleman has got without some graft. Who you know would certainly help but I think you’re severely underestimating the music business.

No, because there are plenty of people who have tons of connections and write good songs that won't be hits. A hit is made by taking a song that meets the marketing needs of whatever is currently popular and putting advertising, marketing, and bribes behind it. Every so often there are exceptions. Writing great songs and writing hit songs are two different goals. Hits are also written by songwriting groups these days. Hits bore me to tears, personally.

He make it look simple but it's not, that's the thing, if you dont believe me just try it. When it comes about music composition, you dont have to be necessarly the most virtuoso on playing an instrument or in singing when it comes to composing and making a song, you have to be really talented on having a great musical ear and imagination on making a great Idea for a song, which is why some songs become hits and immortals because the whole idea of the song is just great and catchy not only because of marketing and connections, when something is good is good and that's something that not must people can do, that's why not all the singers make their own music because yeah they sign fine, but they don't have the hability to actually make their own original music, which is probably the case of many of you favorite artists they have to pay someone like this guy of the video to make their music, So next time dont rush on saying a comment like that pls.
