"I love my books so much that I'm afraid to write them." AH THIS. This is exactly how I feel put into words. It genuinely can be scary to write, especially when you're in love with the project, because we love our stories so much we don't want to mess them up🥺

Is it possible for you to indicate/write a sequel? Then the ending doesn't have to feel so final ☺ It's always scary to finish working on something you invested time and care in, but remember you can reach out to it again whenever you want!

@laetitiamckenna exactly!! In some cases, a sequel/more books fits with the story perfectly. Another thing I like to remember with a story I'm particularly afraid to leave is to occasionally come back to it and write little one shot chapters with them for fun. You still get to "reconnect" with your character, without the time spent writing another book if you don't want to.

I've also been stuck with writing, like I have some good ideas, some current WIPs and yet I just can't bring myself to write. It's almost like feeling unmotivated to write, but then at the same time it doesn't feel like that. Kind of like my brain just shuts down when I try to write. Maybe I just need to sit and chill, marinate my mind. Maybe I just need a break. Thanks for the tips Ana!

I relate to the part about the book not meeting the expectations or having the same vibe that I built up in my head. The scenes come out differently when I wanted something else.

I've been feeling a lot down lately, specially about my book, I've pretty much planned everything it's just some of the insecurities that still persist somewhere in the forefront of my mind. I just want someone to rant these ideas about. Thanks by the way, your videos have always been my favourite. Love you so much ,😭🤎

Honestly same, it’s a big struggle of mine to create stuff for a story out of nothing, I haven’t started writing yet but I’m starting to create my own story which I hope to turn into a series. So far Im only at the start since I’ve just started and had decided to first do the magic system. I dunno though, still watching a ton of writing advice on YT though. (Literally how I came across this channel and I’m glad for that 🙃)

here. i have a tip for you. even though you didn't ask. and even though i'm no genius at writing myself. write smaller stories. for instance, to avoid the guilt... look through one of your projects... casually peruse... and make a general outline. maybe 5 to 12 essential plot points, depending on your length. that estimate is with me assuming your projects aim to be under 100k words. now... you have a rough outline... nothing too serious... but you have a constellation of your story. a general shape. i mentioned how you can write smaller stories. this is where it comes in. you can either pick critical moments or fun little detours for sunshine and flowers... and write a small vignette. maybe it's a chapter. or two. maybe it's part of a redraft. but you can feel productive and almost let yourself recharge creatively because you don't feel overwhelmed. you are honing in on something and flexing your creative wings. from your short stories or excerpts, i can always tell that you have a particular style. the way you narrate it is gentle and loving. like you are holding the hands of your characters through the scenarios or situations. i feel like you put a lot of focus and priority in making sure that your stories have that emotional space in it. and i have a strong suspicion that your creative batteries might feel recharged and you may feel more encouraged when you are accomplishing that more than the drudgery of endless editing and redrafting. make editing and redrafting more fun. you are on your way or already have some skeletons for the stories. flesh them out in smaller chunks with your redrafts and edits. one day at a time... maybe 1k or even 2k words at a time... but you can build up your scenarios and situations for specific projects. and you can start piecing them together like a jigsaw puzzle where you can freely rearrange it if you feel compelled to do so. there. you can still feel productive. you can still hone in on what you really want to creatively fulfilled by. and you don't feel overwhelmed pushing against a brick wall or even balancing that jenga tower of wood blocks as you try to move things around. step back. go smaller. your ideas and projects are still there. you can't build the eiffel tower in one sweep. you can't paint the mona lisa in one go. don't feel like you are in chains from your ideas. you will build the muscle with smaller tasks.

Don't worry your message was conveyed loud and clear. I get that too where I really want to work on my story but suddenly the characters just all seem boring and I literally don't know where to go next from there. Even though I'm not a professional writer I compare myself to other writers even when I'm not even planning to publish it,when I should. Also I really relate to the see why you're writing part. Not just the story but if you have other stories read the other stories that you've finished or at least parts of it so it reminds you of when you were really passionate about a story and you were able to finish it.

Very much feeling this currently, and have been since last summer. Hopefully when uni finishes I’ll be able to actually dedicate more energy to my next novel because there have been ideas I’ve been excited about (including a pirate series that I’m dying to do) but I was burnout by essays and other things. Praying for this summer ngl 🙏

Haven’t even watched the video yet, but this timing is perfect! I just finished a really intense scene that is kind of meant to be the burst into act II. Now the pacing is really slow, and I don’t really know what to do with it. Thank you for this discussion; I think it’s something all writers have experienced at least once.

Keep strong. Dont forget that despite the evil in this world, God is full of justice, mercy and love. Justice said we broke His perfect law - causing the world's previous perfection to be destroyed - and therefore we deserve Hell (like a punishment in any legal system but this is eternal as His perfect law is eternal too). Don't think you fit in that category? Ever done one of these?: lying, stealing - regardless of how small the object EVER, hating others - which is murder in God's perfect law, lusting (plus God sees our entire thought life). Justice says "the soul that sins shall die". BUT, mercy said "I dont want to give them what they deserve. I don't want them to be cut off from Me. I love them despite all they have done/will do against Me. I want to give My children another chance. I want them to come home and live in My love again". And love said "Jesus, God's Son, came down as a Man, our representative, suffering every temptation, pain and struggle we have ever faced, yet without sin. He took all our sins (past/present/ even future) to the cross and then crucified EVERY ONE on our behalf. Justice was paid on the cross so that we can be free from Hell's punishment, experience Gods mercy of forgiveness of sin and live in His love. If we turn from the sins we have committed and repent (turn away from our sin and pursue the opposite direction of love through Christ) He will, overtime, recreate us back into that previously perfect image through The Holy Spirit which Jesus sends to all who accept Him as their personal Lord and Savior of their life. He is in Heaven right now preparing a place for us so that He can take His faithful, believing children home with Him when He returns. He will ressurrect us from death when He returns, giving mercy to those who accept His love, instruction and teachings in their life, and give justice to those who refuse it. He doesn't want ANY of us to go to Hell and die for continuing in evil and rejecting His way to life, thats why He died FOR us. He wants us to be His and begin to follow His life of love and service through Him (not ourselves as it's impossible without depending on His power and instruction). So long as we keep our hearts near to Christ through His strength, strive to obey His will of perfect love revealed in the Bible, and ask Him to help us in the midst of (very certain) pitfalls and struggles, we will, in time, win the victory over sin, pain and DEATH through Christ. Even if you are willing to be made willing, or struggling or doubtful, simply be honest and tell Him that. He is not intimidated by ANY sin or struggle you are facing. ANY. He hears and will answer. If we pray for Him to come in, regardless of the condition, then He will. NOTE: You are NEVER too sinful or messed up that God cannot turn your life around through Jesus. EVER. If you have any questions let me know X

I have well over thirty ideas stored in a doc, two that I am working on, one that I am sort of working on and no matter what I do I want to explore more. My first novel was quite the breeze, one project, one focus, it will be out soon but now I love all my ideas and I want more! So I have all these ideas in a doc that I wanna write but if I start more than two I get freaked out. I have been really in love with a sci fi movie but I don’t want to ya know copy it, I would love to pull inspiration from it but it is so fleshed out I feel illegal doing that. This is interfering with my other projects and I wanna cry when I open my docs!😢

I'm still in the planning phase 🥺. I don't know what path to choose for my story. I'm always overthinking. I think I'm scared to choose an idea and stick with it because I'm scared of settling for less. The story that's in my head is different than what has come out in the outline.
