So, what's the reason for stopping at the chin and now touching the upper chest? Does it compromise the shoulder position?

I used to do these a few years ago and I remember that I liked them, I think I might start again. I'm curious though, have anyone ever seen Zydrunas actually do these? I can't seem to find any footage.

You know, it's funny. When Rob was in the office, he mentioned that he asked Zydrunas that same question one day, and Big Z said he'd never really done them! If that stands true, it's pretty crazy they got named after him, right? - Jake

Simple answer... it all comes down to a misunderstansing between Kalle Beck and either footage of an interview of Z or Z itself. Z described a smith machine shoulder press, but maybe someone didn't understand it right and then Z (whose english is okay mostly) explained it in a way to interpret it differently

Is this movement good for deltoid gains?
@MajesticSkywhale4 жыл бұрын
yes, but not by itself. It won't build delts because the loading isn't high enough (maybe) but all of the stabilising muscles used IN a standing press get worked very very well, thus it DOES increase your Deltoids by enabling more work from them

so the same as a seated military press?
@carbontooth3 жыл бұрын
Having no seat or chair back holding you up changes it more than it might seem.

@@carbontooth I do my military presses without a seat back. didn't know there was a special name for it lol

what's difference compare with that just sit on the chair and do not use leg power? someone around me in korea do this. so i'm so curious.
@Barbend5 жыл бұрын
Try them out! When on the ground, there's no additional base to support the press, AKA no point of contact, so the hips are much more active when creating stability during the press. My advice - try the two variations out with lighter weight, as this is a great way to not only feel the differences, but understand them firsthand.

Lots of great pointers in this video. I just have 1 question. At the start of every repetition, is the bar resting dead on the pins, or is it suspended? Thank you!
@Barbend6 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Great question. The bar is being held up suspended similar to how the bar [dumbbell/kettlebell] would sit in a normal press. For the barbell Z Press, rack pins should be set low enough to where there's no interference with your rack position, but high enough to where they catch the bar from landing on the body if you have to bail. Basically, find the setup that's most comfortable for your body. Right at, or above shoulder height typically works well for a majority of lifters! - Jake

So you come down to the chin and not the chest?
@kvash10393 жыл бұрын
When I do them, I start at the upper chest, just under the collarbone
@prisonmike3856 Жыл бұрын
Depends on your body structure. The shorter the arms, the further down the bar can come without compromising shoulder integrity.

That is the most beautiful barbell I have ever seen
