Do I understand it right, that the different profiles (A, B, C, D, E) is for different types of ammo, or when moving the Thermion to different weapons? So if I use the Thermion on the same rifle, and use one type of ammo, I could get away with zeroing the A profile only?

The profiles can be used for either and it can have up to 10 aiming points associated with each profile. You are correct if you only want one rifle with one ammo you could just use the A profile (or whichever one you want for that matter) and you could set up to 10 aiming points below A profile. This is handy because it gives you the utmost in tested precision and when the A profile is active you can quickly change between the preset aiming points using the quick menu without ever taking your eye off the target. Later on, if you decide to add another load with a different trajectory or move it to another application, you could set up another profile, for example, B, with up to 10 aiming points under it as well. When the B profile is active, the quick menu changes would then be associated with it. Profile changes also retain your reticle and reticle color choices from the last use. If you return to the A profile application (be it a load or different gun) the device is already ready to go, all you have to do is switch back to A profile. Again you can have up to 5 profiles with 10 aiming points under each, for a total of 50 possible XY reticle plotting points. You could also have only one profile and one aiming point and use your choice of 10 reticles and multiple color combinations. There are 3 FFP (First Focal Plane) or expanding reticles, and 2 2nd focal plane stadiametric or BDC style reticles and 5 "standard" reticles. Long story short, the versatility is crazy, from acting like one traditional scope to hundreds of combinations. Thanks, Travis Fox Fox Optic 877-806-2977

Great instructional video. For each profile, do you have to 1-shot zero for every yardage difference and zoom, or are the scope's internal ballistics intuitive? Meaning, you zeroed at 50yd. Do you have to re-zero for each zoom change at 50yd? And then do the same for each yardage set? Thanks,

The scope maintains the image and reticle placement relationship across its power range, you do not need to perform zero changes for different magnifications settings. I highly recommend performing a new one-shot zero for each new profile primary zero and testing all pre-entered aiming points. You can manually enter primary distance/zero origin coordinates from a known and tested initial zero then add or subtract come up to plot new additional aiming points. You can enter them according to ballistic calculator input data ahead of time in combination with your primary zero coordinates as an origin stating point. Examples: (unit values on XM50 are approx. 1/4 MOA( actual 7mm@100M) These increments vary by unit with FOV and this can be found in the user manual or online) in this video, my origin/Primary Zero 50 yd coordinates ended up being (horizontal) X 27.5 (verticle) Y 18 @ 50 yards. If I wanted to then set a 100yd with (-0.8) MOA bullet come up I would set X 27.5 and Y 21.25 ( -0.8)*(-4) multiplier = 3.2 (round) 3.25 + 18=21.25 . @ 200yd 0.5 MOA come up would be (-2) units from primary zero of Y18 ) again (-0.5)*(-4)=(-2) Primary zero Y18 +(-2)=16, so my pre-entry would be X27.5 Y16. @ 300yd 2.7 MOA bullet come up would be (-10.8) units 2.7*(-4) =(-10.8) (round -10.75) Primary zero Y18+(-10.75)=7.25 so X27.5 Y7.25 @ 400 5.3 MOA come up would be (-21.2) units 5.3*(-4)=(-21.2) (round -21.25) Primary zero Y18+(-21.25)=(-3.25) so X27.5 Y(-3.25) @500yd 8.5 MOA bullet come up would be (-34) units 8.5*(-4)=(-34) Primary zero Y18+(-34)=(-16) so X27.5 Y(-16) This data is from the Hornady ballistic calculator; Inputs were: 25-06 117 grain 2990 FPS 0.391 ballistic coefficient G1 drag function Overbore sight height 1.9" 50 yd zero range and 50yd interval. Again I would highly recommend starting with clean/tested initial profile coordinates and I would also re-test any pre-entered/estimated aiming point coordinates for actual trajectory change. Douglas, When you create a new profile it will retain the coordinates of the other named profiles. So yes I left the 50 yard profile. The point of bringing the coordinates forward to the new profile vs restarting at 0/0 is that you begin with the same starting point that you left off with. When you pull up the menu on the right side of the screen on a short press and you select the distance, does that mean you don't have to physically zero at the new distance? For an example, I've already done the zero at 100yds and saved everything, if I change the distance to 200yds do I have to physically shoot again or does it electronically make the adjustment for me to shoot at 200yds?

The stadiametric range finder is for distance estimates only. You would still have to switch aiming points. These can be preset and tested (up to 10 per profile) they can be charged rapidly in the quick menu once established without taking your eye off of your target. I recommend using one of the expandable reticles for distance estimation. They can be used both horizontally and vertically, are already setting on the screen at your disposal, and can be used to quickly compensate holdovers if you don't have time to adjust aiming points.

Do you know if while zeroing my X recticle instead of using the freeze function if I manually change the numbers does it move it left or right of I decrease the number. Like if I go from 12 to 10 on the X axis does that move it left or right?

On the X-axis numeric increases are moving the bullet impact left and down will move it right, on the Y-axis increasing the numbers is moving the bullet impact down, and dropping is moving it up. So going from 12 to 10 in the X-axis would move the reticle left but this would result in a bullet shift right.

It's still thermal, I just adjust the focus, contrast and brightness to the best mix in order to get the best image possible. Nobody makes a mixed sensor sight unit currently, so thermal is thermal.

When zooming some blurriness is a result of pixelization as the image digitally zooms (Not optical) You will have that with pretty much any of these digital devices. It will speed things up, if you can't, start close enough to the target to guarantee you get on paper and then move back.

@@afgymrat I would think most could certainly do it, they won't be able to see the laser in the sight if that is what they use but could vice it and then move the reticle to match the laser. Again if this is going to be an issue, just start about 10-20 yards from your target to make sure you land on the paper to start to make and adjustment and work your way back. (Know that the bullet will seem to rise quite a bit as you move back.) (If I have to do this, I usually start at 15yds, then do 50yds, then 100 or 200 depending on where I wanted to end up.

@@afgymrat I would start with it at base magnification 2.5X until you have made the first shot adjustment or 2 and are close to the bullseye. I would then zoom up to 10X, this will allow you to very precisely adjust the reticle. You can zoom without leaving the windage and elevation adjustment portion of the menu by tapping the + button on the eye piece of the sight.

I'm a new Thermion owner and new to digital rifle scopes so hopefully my question makes sense. Does the 50 yards zero carry over to longer ranges? In other words, do you have to zero it at 100 yards also or does the scopes calibrations management carry over to longer distances when dialed in? Or is it like a traditional scope where you simply hold over at 100 or manually change the elevation while shooting in the field.

Not too sure that I understand your question, but if you zero at 50 yards, that is your zero, you have to zero for the range that you intend to use it (within limits), zeroing at 50 will put you close at 200 yards, very dependant on calibre and load of course. The scope does not alter to suit the range. You can set the scope for several different zero ranges and simply select the range that you intend to use, this is on the first sub-menu that comes up when in the zeroing menu, labelled 'distance'. Personally, I zero my XP50 on a 223 for 200 yards, that puts it approx. 1 1/4" high at 100 and covers everything fro 50 to 230 yards-ish. It's an awesome scope, have fun.

(The APS2 cap is typically on the device and the APS3 cap is in a plastic bag in one of the dividers found in the case/bag the sight and other accessories come in.
