Lemon zest is great. You can use it for various cakes and dishes.

This looks way easier than the way I've been zesting citrus (pretty much rubbing the zester across the citrus or vice versa, which zests unevenly and sometimes gets pith). So thanks!

Me too I didn't know how to zest. When i tried lemon pasta for the first time, i don't really want to miss any zest so i scrubbed the lemon very hard and aggressively. And also because at first it seemed like i'm not getting any and the pasta was bitter. I wondered why and now i know 😅

I tend to use a speed peeler as it gets the zest off in nice strips. I then chop it finely. I find graters annoying. Particularly when trying to wash it up, with bits of zest stuck in it.

Am I the one who thinks washing a grater is damn easy? Lol
@Adam_Garratt8 жыл бұрын
I get ok with microplanes. I just find that trying to wash a grater ends up with bits of dish cloth get caught on it, and I either shred my fingers trying to pick bits of cloth/zest from it. Or it ends up in the bin. In fact, I have a box grater at the minute thats covered in dents where I have beaten it with an implement in order to try and remove cloth/zest. I'm a complete fool, I realise this. Ha

How do u know those aren't covered with a layer of wax
@GeorgiaDawgAthens4 жыл бұрын
To cleanse a lemon of any wax, first, purchase a World War II flame thrower (any country's version will do), load it with fuel (gasoline is good, napalm not so much), pressurize the air tank, and blast the lemon with a 1.37 second burst of flame. Any increase in time will, certainly, ruin the lemon skin. You will, then, have a lemon free of wax. Bon appétit! You know, of course, that a thin layer of (approved) wax is safe, edible, and of no health concern to anyone. Relax folks. Just having fun with a, rather, bizarre comment.

You never know! I just watched a recipe for coffee cake and people were asking "where's the coffee" or "why is this called a coffee cake when there's no coffee in it". 😬 yikes.
You should never tell anyone to pull the zester toward them . Extremely irresponsible. I'm a nurse and I know better 😡

Most people. Unless your friends are chefs, ask them to show you how they do it. And after they are done, enjoy eating their pith. *Reply to:* _"Who the heck doesn't know how to zest a fruit lol"_
