I wouldn't say irresponsibly big your Starfield can be bigger. I say continue adding to it. You got the entire galaxy to build onto it with from just our little corner of the galaxy. You can also add other galaxies once you run out of space in our galaxy. The one big thing I ask is if it's an unexplored uninhabited planet, make it uninhabited. With not pirate/spacer/merc bases or mining outposts. That way you can make it your own without having to fight for space to build your outposts. There can be an occasional crashed ship even with the possibility of survivors you can rescue. Another addition is not only can you build an outpost but you can build your own city from that outpost and bring survivors or people from other over crowded cities that want to leave and make your own bustling metropolis. Or you can go the loner route build yourself a mansion on a beautiful beach on a lush planet full of exotic life. Oh you can hunt already but I'd like to see the ability of fishing also. There are some stability issues remaining it's gotten much better though. It's gone from crashing every 30 seconds through 15 minutes to 3 times in 4 hours which makes it more playable but still frustrating.
@mhommondАй бұрын
3:34 Oh here's another thought that could just add to the games environment say like TVs and Computers can access the Internet and well TVs for instance you can access your Netflix or whatever service your signed up for and have a movie night with your crew and PCs can browse the real world internet where you can browse through both Bethesda/Starfield internet/stores/the real world internet for when you just want a break from the game. It's not important but would be a cool feature finally added to a game I've always wondered why nobody has done before.

i think starfield could use some tarkov/death stranding mechanics in terms of exploring particular random generated planets, so you must prepare for what you're up to, fight through enviroment and have a risk of losing the loot which must become more valuable and useful. Your ship could use not some abstract "ship parts" but a number of specific rare components to address various damages which could result in fuel leaking or preventing you to grav jump and force you to land and explore nearby planets in the first place. Even scanning random rocks and flowers could be much more interesting if it's a part of complex meta gameplay when you know what you're doing and why do you need this.

I love all the new things this game introduced to the formula. What is he talking about? Starfield is a game where a novice miner, having just left the mine, takes a weapon for the first time, kills two dozen criminals, then for the first time in his life, sitting at the helm of a ship, destroys a couple of pirate ships, and then lands on a military base alone, where everyone there was destroyed by a space monster - and kills it too, plus a gang of pirates and their leader. At the same time, this character, comparable in strength to the Astartes, can die from suffocation during the most ordinary light jog. What were you thinking when you made this horror? I am a fan of space games, but I lasted 1 hour of the game. This is a terrible start to immerse yourself in the game. This is not a game for fans of space games, this game is for fans of fantasy in a space setting.

@@JVillalbaAnimation Yes, I’ve paid attention. :) There are Dragonborn ..I mean Starborn.. powers, so it’s already not a hard sci fi game. Grav jumping is also not a real thing :) The devs could, if they want, introduce (optionally) flying / zooming between planets with new sci fi FTL tech that is suddenly discovered (perhaps via Walter’s company). Imo, it would greatly improve the game flow & immersion to have the agency to head out into space towards a planet. I know you can technically do that for days (as you say), but who wants to. :) It’s a game & games should be fun. Forcing the player to fast travel everywhere harms the flow, feels restrictive, & ironically makes the world feel small because there is no sense of distance. Imagine if you had no choice but to load to each area in Skyrim when you get on a horse. It would make the game feel much smaller & much less immersive.

If you are already happy without the option to fly your space ship out of orbit that’s great. But for me, and seemingly many others, we had hoped that a new game set in space (centred around space exploration) would allow us to fly our ship in space. I don’t think it needs to be a ‘space sim’ to have that option. Since BGS have said they will continue to update the game for many years, I just hope that will be one of the updates. It could be a game changer for many players.

Starfield is not just bad, it is a fundementally flawed and antithetically designed game where whenever there was a mechanic I liked is was canceled out by another until the whole of Starfield is rendered pointless and there is no redeeming quality left, it feels like none of the devolpers communicated with each other. Take space ship building as one example of a wasted mechanic: space ship building is open ended and highly customisable but the restrictive nature of space traversal being a sequence of loading screens renderes space ship building pointless. And this is true of everything in Starfield, take settlement building which works in Fallout 4 thematically and mechanically as the world is smaller and you're very likely to cross a path nore than once so building a settlement can have stratigic purpose, in Starfield the scale renders making an outpost on most planets pointless outside of resource genration (and once you have one or two that generate resources, it renders mining pointless, making planet scanning pointless which makes planet exploration even more pointless again). There are 1000 planets, across 100 systems... but only 10 biomes. It's embarrassing seeing a company as old as Fromsoft Ware, no older than them make such lame oversights and mistakes, they've learned nothing and I'm worried about Fallout 5 and Elder Scrolls V.I.

People are so hung up on Starfield (which I feel is a great game in its own right though some disagree) that they are choosing to completely ignore everything Todd contributed to before it. Short memory spans. This man has led the team since Morrowind and has helped create some of the very best games of all time. Certainly my favorites. While recent design choices and writing do give me pause, Todd deserves plenty of praise for his contributions to the whole industry during his tenure. I hope to see a return to the Oblivion or Morrowind era with TES VI because I feel that was peak Bethesda in terms of their games being the best mix of everything.

@l0y3lg45Ай бұрын
yes and no. the best lore in the elder scrolls is in morrowind and oblivion especially in morrowind. tes used to be a generic fantasy world like dungeons and dragons starting with morrowind it's like lord of the rings but under lcd. daggerfall and arena had pretty generic lore and they have a lot of lore that isn't even canon anymore. and todd howard has nothing to do with the lore of the elder scrolls and emil pagliarulo does not have as much weight here as in fallout since in the elder scrolls there is an entire team of writers and the proof that they still have their touch is in TES legends and in teso (only the books since that is where bethesda writers participate and even michael kirkbride returned to write some lore books)
@l0y3lg45Ай бұрын
Todd Howard was the one who took The Elder Scrolls to the top. Ted Peterso and Julian Lefay were killing Bethesda. Although today it may sound ironic and contradictory, Todd was the one who made Daggerfall Arena and Battlespire look ridiculous. Todd Howard is the soul of The Elder Scrolls and the best era of The Elder Scrolls is Todd Howard's.

In starfield, theres nothing over any hills... Its empty! Story good, idea great. Exploration is non existent!
@traversal6881Ай бұрын
Exploration at its core is just seeing and travelling. Sure, features are something people explore to go and see, but part of it is also the wandering and the sights of nature, even on barren worlds. How life interacts and runs around, the clear sky at night, just being where no-one is.

@stevej71393Ай бұрын
Bethesda's massive worlds are not that interesting without a firm vision guiding it. A committee of mediocre quest designers are not sufficient. You need a creative mind behind all of it. Bethesda needs to hire an author for their next game to fill a role similar to what Michael Kirkbride did for Morrowind. Have them devise the aesthetic and write some of the in-game books. Give them final say on the direction of the main quest and faction quests. Stop putting control in the hands of people who are either unqualified or don't care.
@nib4626Ай бұрын
Well said. Beyond being dull as dishwater, the worldbuilding in Starfield has no cohesion or rhythm or interconnectedness, beyond NPCs trying to convince you otherwise. We will never get anything on par with Morrowind again, but at least Oblivion, Fallout 3, Skyrim and even Fallout 4 to some extent had some kind of distinctive atmospheres and immersion. But you're right, the vision is often muddled.
@mf_ratАй бұрын
@@nib4626 You can thank Pagliarulo for that, he actively lets quest designers do whatever they want. There is no cohesion on purpose. He's on record (as well as Todd) stating how they depend on modders to make better question and fill the gaping holes in their development process.
