For me it's the world of Bethesda games. Yes many games surpass the elder scrolls in terms of gameplay or story like the witcher 3 but in the witcher 3 it doesn't feel alive the way Elderscrolls games do. NPCs just stand in place or places just feel like building between me it feels like a map with things to do not a world to explore. In TeS games when you walk into a road side inn or Tavern you immediately feel that sense of warmth and safety even when you aren't playing on a survival mode you just feel like "Yes this is a place you can relax." No other game reaches that level of immersion and detail like Bethesda games do.

"One of the reasons we're sitting here, 10 years later, is because of our modding community" That is so incredibly true. Skyrim is a great game, but the modding community elevated it to an unreachable status. There's no other game with as many mods, as many creators. Imo, there's no other game with such a deep, rich modding tool-set that is as uniquely powerful as it is accessible. Whatever future Elder Scrolls titles are released, Bethesda would do well to retain the flexibility and depth of modding for their engine and toolset. If they abandon that, they abandon a significant portion of their fanbase.

Great interview - really impressed that Todd recognizes what the best strength of each elder scrolls game is. Gives me hope that he will put ALL these strengths into the next Elder Scrolls game. A game which has all these strengths would be truly amazing. Each new game has been a step forward in one way and a step backwards in another compared to the last game.

One thing I'm curious about is the move to Creation Engine 2. With them planning to support Fallout 76 into next year, are there any plans to move Fallout 76 over to the Creation Engine 2? How easy would such a process be, and what would the results of that engine upgrade be?
@alexlyster34593 жыл бұрын
The process would basically be " we might as well make Fallout 76- 2 because we're going to be starting from scratch". The results still wouldn't be what you want, as the game would have to be online by nature. Making a game exactly like Skyrim, but multiplayer is basically impossible. All those physically based objects, scripted NPC etc... just do not mesh well with netcode and stability
@BL00DYME553 жыл бұрын
It will never happen. They can't even be bothered to release a next gen update for FO76, so people on PS5 and XSX are stuck playing the PS4/XB1 versions.
@spiceyicey3 жыл бұрын
Ah yes, just move the game folder into a new engine. Totally something reasonable to do
@NintendoGamer20113 жыл бұрын
@@spiceyicey To be fair, Epic is planning to eventually move Fortnite over from Unreal Engine 4 to Unreal Engine 5, so it could be possible. And given Creation Engine 2 is just a massively overhauled Creation Engine, it may well be feasible. But like other people have said, they seem pretty lazy given they've not even provided a next-gen update for the game. So I'm not holding my breath

im not its completely pointless special edition made sense as it added mods to the console games but this new version is just special addition but with 3 CC items you can just get on special edition not to mention you could get more CC items if you spent the money on the CC on special edition than buying a new version of skyrim for £60 just to get 3 free CC items that have been free on multiple occasions and have far better free modded alternatives.

For me Skyrim was great for it's openness, music and the depth of it's lore. The people who call it shallow really don't take the time to look at the big picture of Tamriel, it's geopolitics and conflicts. To understand the groups, you also have to look at the gods they follow, and the traits of those gods.

The elder scrolls lord doesn’t make the game Skyrim deep. It is fairly shallow compared to morrowind
