It was really interesting seeing how your video making process has changed since you and Matt ended the park bench. There hasn't been a place to go see y'all geek out about how a really technical video was made and this is a percent of that.

@sirBrouwer
@sirBrouwer 2 жыл бұрын
Well the thing is the red shirt is just forward thinking. He never has to thing about continuity errors. at least with his clothing as he on purpose always wares the same. Red shirt, bleu jeans, grey sweater and same shoes. He buys them all in bulk so that is also covered. he only exception is when he is wearing is suite. with is most likely 1 suite with probably 2 white shirts.

I"ve been a professional programmer for 25 years and I got 3.354 in 3 tries. Tom is an ex-programmer, so I'm guessing that's where it comes from.
@stackcycler
@stackcycler 2 жыл бұрын
If you want to get really fast, the key is to get away from a "typing" mindset and towards a "sliding" mindset. The site allows you to make as many errors as you want, as long as the alphabet is also in there in order. So you ideally want low profile keycaps with as much rollover as possible and then slide your fingers across the keyboard along the alphabet.

Tom is such a good speaker. He really didn't lie when he said he writes scripts in his voice - this whole podcast he sounded like he was giving a scripted, pre-plannedpresentation. It almost felt surreal every time I heard the others respond - like people giving unscripted comments that somehow perfectly fit into Tom's presentation. I've never heard someone speak so well so naturally and so effortlessly. Much respect.

well in a way he has done them. Only linear on the radio. Tom Scott's gift is that he sees everything as it is the very first time, and enthuses that like a child would in excitement. His energy is incredible, and that always transfers too. There is always such a positive energy to it all, and in a world filled with darkness, he provides a light.

Okay, so here’s the thing… KZbin suggested this video to me NOW…. 2months later… this drives me nuts, i wished I found it sooner. Thank you guys for interviewing Tom, I really like his content. But there’s more to it, his humble personality and that amazing speaking voice. The 90’s show-reference really makes sense. Always had a Mike Rowe’s “Dirt Jobs” vibe… not the content, but the style. Lol, sooo… “Hot Ones” happened 🤣 Hope this finds you as well Tom 🙂

Tom’s thoughts on car user interfaces and the idea of standardizing it sounds interesting to me. I don’t necessarily think it would be a good or bad thing. It would just be fun to do like a “What if” series, breaking down random scenarios like that

48:00 That is a thing I think is most impressive for Linus Tech Tips. He has over many years successfully transformed HIS KZbin Channel into a KZbin Channel of his media-group where many of the personalities seen in the videos nowadays have their own personality and pretty much even their own Fans. And that while still being called LINUS Tech Tips, just that Linus now stands more for LMG (Linus Media Group) and not the person Linus

This seem to be what he wants to happen, but it's not really working out it feels like, 80-90 percent of the videos have him in them now, just a few years back people like James and Reily and Anthony did a lot of them, I'm not sure why they are doing as many videos now, could it be because it wasn't working ? Or is it because all of those people are working on the newer channel alot, since they are the ones he trusts the most, or its both since if they are on the newer channels more that would be channel that would start from zero with the other hosts

BLUE PETER! Now he mentions it, it's so obvious where Tom's inspiration comes from. (Should have taken the hint from the 'Noaks climbs Nelson's Column' link in the newsletter!) The not-at-all misbehaving elephant, the Simon-Groom-esque sheep farm, how to build an emoji keyboard from washing-up liquid bottles and sticky-back plastic. Next week he'll be putting a tortoise in a box, training a guide-dog, and asking viewers to send in milk bottle tops. (I'd still watch that).
