@Last_Chance , he was, because he was coming from KO loss, the confidence wasn't there, he would usually either try to counter punch or use a takedown to get out from that situation by using clinch fighting.

@@Last_Chance.If fighting great is just to touch your opponent with no intent of inflicting dmg ye then he was fighting great. The first round was close it was not a push over. Topuria landed the bigger shots with his over hands/straights and the bigger leg kicks, even made Volk fall down from one of them. But In the last 1 min of round 1 Volk landed more Jabs while Topuria did not land anything significant so the judges gave it to Volk. But in reality going by the Judging criteria Immediate DMG triumphs accumulating dmg. So Topuria should have wan that round. But it don’t really matter. Volk backing up with his chin in the air and only Jabing and presenting no real threat is what made it so easy for Topuria to slip the Jab and landing his combo to force Volk to the fence and then finish him.

Coach is spot on. For some bizarre reason, Volk thought he could trade with Ilia. He even had his left hand LOW! And maybe he panicked a little once he felt his back on the cage. Bait the trap, sprung, & dead meat.

He didn't trade with Topuria, if he did his chances would be better, he tried to dodge by moving backwards, when Topuria cut the octagon very fast. Volk should've counter punch like he always do, or use a takedown, he lost confidence after Makhachev losses.

I think he was sussing him out and wanted to get it to the later round and bring hes condition into it. I was worried as an aussie more than ever for this one. Agree that the last machachev fight was the wrong call and can potentially be hes slippery slope to hes retirement. It would be something unbeleivably special should he come back after this. I think a good option would have been to get under him while on the fence and take him down. Volk won round 1. And was doing good just couldnt hang trapped on the fence. Its very interesting now where volk goes. I hope he can come back and get him.

Volks' style got exposed. He has been caught previously having one or both hands low and his head high. He is always at a height disadvantage, and topuria is the tighter fighter. Instead of stepping off on an angle, he was straight back against the cage with his head up like a giraffe. Then goodnight

Volk looked great in the first round.... But I could still just see what was going to happen. If you noticed it, Volk was exiting the pocket every single time, and he's done this for year and has always gotten away with it, with his left hand down by his body, his right hand to his chin and his chin straight up in the air. I could see that topuria was making that read.

Yep, i saw that too. Technically he won round 1 but the live odds turned against him for the 2nd round. I think is the first time i see that happen. Topuria was stalking Volk and closing the distance little by little not respecting his power.

Should have kept his head moving and should have kept on changing his position. By this though Topuria would have landed the ko punch, it would not have landed perfectly and he could have survived. Volk was staying away, that is ok. But once Topuria was coming close and he realised Topuria could hit him anytime, he should have decided to hit him back, engage with him and run away quickly. The fight would have been interesting. He lost without putting up a fight. It seems like he is not longer training. His trainer is a waste.

Disagree. You can read fighter body language. Volk was fighting scared! he respect Topuria's power too much. Yes, he is supposed to respect it, not to the point of fighing scared like he was.. volk was on the back foot the whole time. volk throw the odd kick, with no follow up. he threw jabs, no follow up. no pressure, no volume. volk was fighting scared. This is due to getting KO'd by Islam. Don't worry, it happens to the best world champions, they are still good, but they are not the same fighter after knock out.

cuts and bruises as shown on topuria don't mean much. you can get flatlined and face can look ok. topuria wasnt even 10% close of getting finished. he didnt respect volks power, but volk respected his... in the rematch the same thing will happen again. volk will fight scared. he's been fighting scared since islam KO. Volk didnt even try set anything up with his kicks or jabs, which he should have done in round 1, because he was too afraid
