I never thought about it like that, most of the time I roll my eyes to the back of my head when tropes are overused but you made me look at it from another angle. Can we expect anything for a 1k subscriber special?

I'm glad this gave you a fresh perspective! I've been thinking of doing something for 1k, but frankly I'm not sure what I could do haha. Anything specific you might want?

@@MaiaCVideos maybe an extensive critique of riverdale idk lol. It’s a guilty pleasure of mine but I can admit that it has its issues

@@drereviews8868 right, okay! I might not necessarily make that specifically as 1k video, but I'd love to make a video like that in general

Great video! The Wilds is a fantastic example for using tropes to establish expectations and then either subverting them to show they're *not* actually this way or developing them to reveal *why* they are this way.

Such a tightrope to walk on. When do you subvert, when do you hold the line and when do you jump off? Nice video, Mala. Keep it up!

The only issue I'd have with this excellent video is that EVERY metaphor is a trope, every figurative aspect of literature is a trope. So saying 'all gay guys are exuberant and overly physically expressive' isn't a trope, its a cliche or stereotype. Which IS a trope, but EVERYTHING is a trope that isn't literal. In fact as soon as you try to explain something literal its a trope. Which makes the use of the term trope a cliche or stereotype itself.....which IS a trope, but then EVERYTHING is a trope which makes use of the word redundant. Whew. Unless you are using the term the way literary criticism has used the term, like Northrop Frye in "anatomy of criticism", which I think every writer or critic should read.
