Find out how Trustkill Records put metalcore on the map, from its roots in the 90s DIY hardcore scene to becoming one of the top metal/hardcore labels of the 2000s, and finally its demise in 2010.
- How Trustkill founder Josh Grabelle got started booking shows in his New Jersey basement for Earth Crisis, Lifetime, Snapcase, Hatebreed and more
- Trustkill's early releases like the "Land Of Greed, World Of Need" compilation and bands like Despair, Harvest, and Brother's Keeper among many others
- Defining releases like the Hellfest 2000 DVD with Converge, Every Time I Die, Bane, and Shai Hulud, the groundbreaking Poison The Well album "The Opposite Of December" and the gold-selling "Poison" by Bullet For My Valentine
- The "golden years" of Trustkill Records, when they got metalcore bands like Eighteen Visions, Bleeding Through, and Walls of Jericho on MTV's Headbanger's Ball and Ozzfest
- The distribution deal with Fontana/Universal that ultimately lead Josh to walk away from Trustkill and start Bullet Tooth Records
- Interviews with Josh on No Echo bit.ly/2V1oo5w and Lambgoat bit.ly/2WnLHXu

yo can you do a video on the Socal Skacore scene. its probably be hard since its underground and theres to many bands but i think it would make for a interesting video. its pretty dope, majority of it is a mixture of mexican/latino sound with, jamaican ska, and hardcore punk.

Poison the Well is probably one of the most underrated bands of all time. You Come Before You (one of the best Metalcore albums of all time imo) was unlike anything else that had ever come out before it, and to this day stands out as something beyond Metalcore. That album was deep lyrically, and instrumentally they were experimenting with new sounds and ways of writing songs. Anyone that hasn't heard You Come Before You should quit whatever you are doing and listen to that album. You can get a new job later.

@TheWellDisease hell yeah. Definitely. You Come Before You has some bangers, but some of the songs have bad connotations for me so I can't listen to them (Loved Ones and The Realist for example). Love them, though. Got to see them on their reunion tour. It was a lot of fun.

Poison the Well literally changed the game! Not only were they Trustkills biggest seller with Opposite of December, but Poison the Well were the first of these bands to sign with a Major label, with Atlantic, with You Come Before You. They were also the only band to change their sound with each album, not wanting to be the band that plays the same songs in the same style on repeat like most of the other Trustkill bands.

Man, This video took me back. I remember Trustkill being my go to label for Metalcore and Heavy Hardcore. Bands like PoisonThe Well, Eighteen Visions, Bleeding Through, Throwdown, Most Precious Blood, Terror, Walls Of Jericho and It Dies Today were my favourites. This video also reminded me on how good Hopesfall were. Totally forgot Bullet For My Valentine started off on Trustkill also. Man, so many great bands came from trustkill and I really miss that label. Would be cool if you could do more videos on Labels such as Trustkill. One I would be really keen to see would be one on Ferret Music, that label had some awesome bands on it.

Poison the well was always a band that was ahead of their time. They basically invented the metalcore sound and then in two albums managed to transition to a sound that to this day is still super unique. Eighteen Visions also had a very southern hardcore vibe that a lot of bands later expanded on. Trustkill was definitely a super influential label for metal music as a whole.

They could have came out of the era much bigger in my opinion if Nick hadn't left right after their biggest album. Suffering Brings Wisdom In my early years I was in a local band and we were asked to play with Bleeding Through but it was like a 2 hour drive and I remember not liking the band (then). That same year they took off and here we are 2019 and they are still one of the biggest bands of the scene. I don’t even play music anymore. Sometimes I find myself asking “what if we had played that show with them?” Back then Mike Hasty used to handle all the WoJ booking and we shared a stage a few times with them and Brothers Keeper. In fact, my first band played our last show with Brothers Keeper and Disembodied. Good times!

I loved TK records! I preordered ‘The Caitiff Choir’ from It Dies Today my senior year in high school in my Digital design class. It was DOPE. PTW was another huge band in my area (south Florida) along with NFG and a smaller but amazing band called DKLIMB I think kind of shaped the local/bigger music scene from that time frame. Finn, I’d LOVE to see a video like this on Eulogy Recordings.
