You know what bothers me the most about is Turkey European or Asian issue? Whenever a website asks me to pick region, you'll have Turkey under Europe on others you'll have it under the Asia on others yet you'll have it under the Middle East so every time I just have to guess which. So developers everywhere, I would just much prefer it if you put Turkey on its own category. Not Europe, Asia or Middle East, just Turkey. Thanks.

It's not a free trade agreement. Also, no default right for citizens to work in each other's countries. People like to discount Turkey’s “Europeaness”, but Eastern Thrace (the part of Turkey that is geographically part of Europe) has a population of 11 million people, that’s larger than the populations of Ireland, Portugal, Sweden, Greece, Switzerland, Bulgaria and many, many more! For most of history it would have made no sense for anyone but a horse nomad to travel to Asia via Ukraine rather than Anatolia. That would be picking an empty, underpopulated steppe traversed by dangerous horse nomads until lighting in urban civilization in Transoxiana, rather than going through the cities and towns and somewhat travelled routes of Anatolia, Syria and Persia, all pretty much the 'Asia' that people meant anyway.

a little correction, izmir is in aegean region not in marmara like said at 1:50 . also i'm from turkey and i can say that %95 islamic population is not realistic. i know thats come from official counts but in turkey you assigned to a religion from birth; mostly islam, because of family members. even your family members are non-islamic (mostly ateist or deist); they tent to assign you as muslim. because the peer and government pressure (last 10 years for g. pressure). well, no pressure offically, thanks to secular government (and essentially Atatürk), but you can have some "difficulties" as government employee also as private sector employee. if nothing else mobbing from workmates and bosses. so turkey has growing non-theist believes especially in younger generations but mostly slient because of that shits. %70-80 more reliable, also (likely) %70 of muslims are secular people and on harsh rules of islam, they does not count as muslims by strict muslim believers. because they tend to drink alcohol and lack of religious rituals (namaz, oruç, kurban, etc).
@fatihsahin5255
@fatihsahin5255 2 жыл бұрын
As you said, I would also say that approximately 70% of the population is Muslim (good or bad, still believers). But honestly I dont agree with “government pressure”. It was the Muslim community oppressed for 80 years not being able to be a part of society. Thats one of the main reasons of Turkey not becoming a global player with all of its geographical potential, between 60-00s. No highly ranked universities (but some of the oldest), no proper second language, no cultural knowledge, no proper education, no investment in infrastructure. Entire East of Turkey was forgotten for 50 years. First primary school was build on 8 years ago in my village in East of Turkey. Our current leader is obviously more or a fanatic religious person, but I dont see that being “extremely” wrong in a country of majority believing in religion. Becoming a republic was definitely the right move, but wrongly executed, especially after the death of Mustafa Kemal. This caused a huge internal stress between communities, the politicians at that time didnt care at all about the situation.

Murmansk and Vladivostok are Russian ports open year round that aren't bottlenecked by Turkey and Denmark. Murmansk is kept ice free year round by the tail ends of the north Atlantic current. Actually the Baltic ports like St Petersburg aren't even ice free year round, and from December to May Murmansk, far to the north, replaces St Petersburg as the primary port of the Northwest. That's how powerful of an effect the north Atlantic current has on the environment of the area. Even further to the north the western sections of the island of Svalbard have ice free waters year round, well north of the Arctic circle. Though of course this is not relevant to Russia.

The progress of Turkish defence industry and foreign policy in the past decade is quite astonishing and is one that left all its foes and friend mouth wide agape in equal measures needless to mention its growth in both soft and hard power too,especially in middle east and Africa. Turkey has successfully presented itself as an afroasian country,with its airline flying to 60 African city,second after Ethiopian airline and first in cargo services in Africa. Turkey also has military deals with several African countries like Libya,somalia and recently Niger. Turkish government prowess in foreign policy advancement in Africa is at its climax as it has opened embassies in 45 African countries and that has pitted her against her western alliance, especially France which always saw Africa as its cash cow. Turkey's involvement in Africa is one that come in a multifaceted manner,ranging from education, heath,construction, diplomacy, military deals and trade. Another answer to this question could be in the realm of Climate: The Anatolian plateau contributes to the circular motion of cold air masses converging with hot air masses over the East Mediterranean, thus creating the Cyprus Low fronts, lasting for 3 days approx. moving west to east. This is crucial for the short rainy season of the Levant - Only ~5 months of quality rainy season, out of which 90% of rain comes in a few of those Cyprus Lows. It's wonderful how climate forms and depends on topography, even in the Meso scale. :)

This is not a good representation of a country. Recently it has been published that out of each 40 people 7 of them categorize themselves as non-believers or atheists. Thank you

You can’t try to ethnically cleansed a minority in Cyprus, and then when the country they are from comes to protect them similar to what Bosnians went through with Serbs, it becomes a problem in the eyes of the Greek Cypriots. There was a referendum held years ago to join both Turkish & Greek Cypriots but the Orthodox side didn’t want to join. Therefore, Northern Turkish Republic of Cyprus it is and will continue to be. Period.
