Two channels, movies or flight deck ops. Watched the A-6s, A-7s and EA6Bs launch loaded for bear. It was badass! After the planes departed the ship, hit the gym, ate dinner, then went to bed. We worked 12-hour shifts, 7-days per week. The aircraft were back on board when we woke up late that afternoon. We watched a recording of aircraft arriving with racks empty. It was an exhilarating experience. I've seen the Operations Room video and will check out the Fat Electricians. Thanks.

You are spot on about the US wanting to kill the Sabalan, particularly the CO of the ship as he was known to direct fire onto the bridges of merchants to kill as many infidels as possible and then brag about it. There was disappointment that we didn't get him personally. One tiny correction. Your graphics team did a great job on the images of the US warships involved except that you had the old USS O'Brien DD725 - a WWII ship - instead of the new Spruance class O'Brien DD975. (I'm not exactly sure what) But could you guys do a video on the British military, and how it could say affect America's battle (by Gods grace that won't come) against China in the pacific? Or compare British military readiness to other allies like Germany or Poland? We need more mainstream military channels branching a little away from America sometimes ;) (please).
@avarion953810 ай бұрын
As a German, sadly you can't compare Germany and Poland. Germany's military isn't ready to fight. Most of our stuff , 2/3, istn't operational. We have ammunition for just around 3 days of war. Our jets don't fly, our tanks don't drive or shoot and even if you look at things like our Taurus cruise missles: Out of 600, just around 150 work. The rest is useless for now. Poland, on the other side, just bought over 1.000 modern tanks and over 500 HIMARS. Germany has something like 250 tanks in total, max 80 - 90 are combat ready. Poland is, by far, the strongest forcein europe right now, and on land, they are stronger than Germany, France and the UK combined. Germany is just in a bad shape. We have the money, but our politicians ruin it. Burocracy also. France probably is in better shape, it's not possible to be worse than Germany. The UK usually cares for it's military, but Poland just added more tanks, than the others have combined. Also they bought, like mentioned, 500 HIMARS, but also over 600 howitzers, around 50 jets, and they will buy close to 100 Apache helicopter. They will nearly double their number of soldiers, and will have around 300k, and they will nearly double their military spending to 4% of their GDP. As a German, it's very frustrating to see our politicians fail, because we decided to spend at least 80+ billion per year on our military, and 100 billion extra to make the Bundeswehr combat ready, but while all others buy weapons, we don't buy anything, and inflation and burocracy eats up the 100 billion we wanted to spend. Atm just about 80% is left, and we bought nothing. 😭

I doubt you truly want to know about the state of the UK military … even Germany. Poland is far more prepared and more powerful than both the UK and Germany IMO. Thankfully we’re all allies but these EU countries need to step it up if they want to have any chance of defending their land in case of a war with Russia …. Shit, even Belarus would cause Germany issues.

A friend of mine was there. He was a seal (dead now). He said they had been clearing mines and were stationed on a barge. They were strafed by an old propeller plane and a large number of seals were killed. This was never disclosed to the public. He survived by diving below the barge between strafing runs.

I remember this pretty clearly, even though I was a kid. It was a huge deal at the time, and all three (THREE!) news networks at the time reported on it all night... When the news of the battles (if they can be called that) came into the news, the local rock&roll (99.9, I think?) radio station I was listening to played 'Rock the Casbah' by The Clash a couple of times n a row. Same goes for the '86 'Operation El Dorado Canyon' strikes on Quadaffi's Lybia, and again when Lybia was bombed during the Clinton administration in thw late 90's.

Funny how you avoided mentioning that the US forces shot down an Iranian civil airliner when mentioning "check your fire" and causing hundreds of civilian deaths leaving no survivors... As it turned out during the investigation, firstly it was misidentified as Iranian F-14, then the radar operator gave wrong data to cowboy captain; the plane was climbing, but the operator sad it was diving towards the ship... Look it up, on KZbin or wherever...

I love the occasional comradery between the USSR and US. Like we're obviously rivals and at odds ideologically, but there are a number of examples where both sides exhibited a sort of friendship. Lucky for us both sides had cooler heads at play when it really mattered. We narrowly averted nuclear war on more than one occasion. Contrast this with how the only other super power in the world behaves today. Dealing with China is like dealing with a child with behavioral issues. The professionalism is severely lacking with them and I haven't heard anything about their military except cringe bully behavior like harassing the Philippines and Taiwan which is by all rational analysis a sovereign country.

This is unlike how we treat current Russia where, and we act like a psycho karen who can’t stand the fact her neighbor dares plant tulips in the yard when we specifically said everyone should only plant petunias, completely ignoring that we refuse to let her have petunias or petunia seeds in the past and degrade her home into a dilapidated ruined when we said we’d help her take care of it, and then act like she’s the problem when they call us out on it and say they’ll take care of themselves from now on.
@Gubers10 ай бұрын
@@Mortablunt The whole Putin dictatorship and invading Ukraine thing really earned the current views on Russia. Not that the US or European countries are bastions of freedom and Democracy anymore because they are rapidly being took over by left-wing idealogues that pretend to love such things but are actually the one's eroding them. The reality is the people and the politics of our countries are two different things. But our media machines are hard at work brainwashing the people to believe a narrative that simply isn't true.

@@Skyfighter94 There are many examples of mutual respect when it came to potential military confrontation between the US and USSR during the Cold War period.
