i used to make the same mistake as well, until i realized that most armies were not made of T5 or T6 units. Even if getting the most accurate data takes a lot of time. At least it shows the real potential of the unit, isn't strongly based on just opinions and quick tests.

I don't understand why ppl hate this unit. I started using them more often after TaleWorlds disabled the ability for Imperial Legionary and Khuzait Darkhan to throw their spears esp since the unit doesn't sacrifice tankiness (except leg armor) for the ability to throw javelins.

The answer is as simple as it is sad. unfortunately some testing videos of T5 Vs T5 performance got popular and this guys are terrible in that scenario. But in Bannerlord that's also a scenario that doesn't happen unless you mod your game in some way. Another thing is that the armor buff helped them a lot in 1.8. They used to be around the bottom in performance with the 5 javs being the only major upside of the unit. But they jumped up to 1st after the patch. I hope this video brings awareness to how good this guys really are and how important having a double threat infantry unit is.

Yes, some people run some questionable tests against T5 only and these guys finished at the bottom of the barrel. They are still one of the worst at dealing with T5 but they destroy anything else. Since last year, when i played my first Aserai only campaign i consider these guys far better than Legionaries

@@liviubostan7229 Wanted to give you a quick answer instead i ended up writing a paragraph. Long story short the answer is depends. Only if the weapon skill is High enough and the armor value is as well. generally speaking for your companions mid 70 speed weapons that carry a lot of base DMG tend to perform best. But for 2H weapons 90 speed and DMG over 120 is preferred regardless of armor or skill. best 1H weapon you can give to your companions is the Cataphract mace. it performs better than the Calrdic one even if it's much slower. but the average skill of your companion must be above 130 to perform well. if you face a lot of High Tiers (let's say you modify your game so the enemy bring better troops) a faster weapon 90 speed and decent DMG mid 60 (at least) will still be the best option. bannerlord science and combat is very complicated. if you want to test this out on your own i recommend the Distinguished service mod and Character reload. other than that you can see the performance of the weapon of the Aserai veteran by tier at the very end of the video. now i have no link to my spreadsheets (outside of discord) but they were among the worst in that category. but did very well against lower tiers.

Keep in mind that it takes as long if not longer to get Aserai units upto Tier 5. Aserai Tier 1-4 units are absolutely the weakest in terms of armor and HP as well. The Aserai are a bad faction, but are good for players who want to play on the "impossible" difficulty 🤣

The Battanians have a unit called Wildling that has 10 Javelins.

Instead of just telling us what place a unit is in please also tell us out of how many you are comparing them to, and what those units are, and their placement. Do you have a chart on this? Thanks :)

Units are always compared with others in their same class (infantry, shock troops, archers/Xbows, Cavalry, Horse Archers) The idea of the stats is that the viewer can write them down and compere them on their own. That's why i make the stats clear and at the end of the video there is the Unit stats recap. If i were to give out the spreadsheet people will not have much of a reason to watch the video and that means YT won't recommend it. All of that ends up damaging all sides of the table. The players won't receive the information, Yt won't get people watching and my channel won't grow as a result. later in the future things will be different with Patch updates on all the classes but for now that's simply something i can't do.

@@LyonExodus I appreciate your answer, and suspected this to be the case. I have another set of views. 1. I want to do the best with what I have, and you go into some detail on what each unit does well against others. You could still add more detail on just what "low level troops" means. Sorry if I missed that, but I assume it is a mix of low level troops, but I do not know which ones, proportions, terrain, and methods used in testing. 2. Yes, marketing, but you may make a general comparison that gives partial information all will want to see, then individual ones so people know the details on how one unit is to be used. The video may actually be what attracts more to your site. Since TW changes things from time, if you remain current your chart will change, so and your fans will keep up with you wanting basic and detailed information from your new testing. This is more attractive to some like me, than going thru every video to find what is best for me. Thanks for your work.

I explain the testings in the very first video of each unit type, apart from the Horse archers i think. So those videos would be the Wildling, the Fian and the Horseman. They are older videos and not the greatest i have ever made but the Wildling especially explains the testings and which ones i value over others. SHORT ANSWER: Low tiers are T1 to T3. with T4 and T5 being excluded and T6 not tested since they are generally even rarer than T5 in vanilla. On the second point there is always room, in the future, to make more extensive videos diving even deeper into how to make units effective, what formations and tactics work best, what captains perks and so on. And i can try to contact some mod developers to create mods for those purposes as well. But that takes a lot of time and as of today, it's all free work. The best strategy right now, in my opinion, is to create content that works as a baseline for the viewer and can always be updated if anything changes. In the meantime that this baseline gets created the goal of the channel is achieving that illusive 1K subs, so that all of the effort, and hours spent in the past and in the future will make sure i can bring content in a more stable manner going forward. Right now there are days where i simply don't feel in the mood of writing, recording and editing for 6 hours. Especially lately, as things are different than a few weeks ago. So, at times, i end up missing an upload and delaying the project. My goal is to bring short videos 3m to 6m each day, while having a deeper dive once or twice a month / week. These short forms are just serving as an exposure role, as the more videos there are on the channel the more it will be recommended (kinda). And another nice thing is that the viewer can decide to skip some units if they think or know how good they are already. So yeah, i am not uploading for the simple reason to gain subs, but i'd like to be able to get the videos to be monetized as fast as possible so all of the time that has been invested and will in the future can be somewhat payed back. it kinda sucks to say it but that's how it is. I don't have much free time left to make it work and i already "wasted" more than an year streaming daily on Twitch. So, if i want to be able to bring quantity and quality videos to the community i have to do things this way or i don't know if someone else can make the same kind of videos in the future.

At this point I just subconsciously upgrade units I get in a certain way Aserai Recruit - All viable that I can afford to close my eyes and pick a random upgrade, though I tend to avoid Mameluke Cavalry Imperial Recruit - Legionary, Menavliaton, and Palatine Guard depends on what I need. I might add XBows from time to time but I prefer Vlandian or Mercs for that. Battanian Recruit - Almost Always Falxmen Vlandian Recruit - Most I turn to Voulgiers, some to Marksmen, a few to Sergeants Sturgian Recruit - Mostly Heavy Axemen and Linebreakers, I completely avoid the Woodsman branch Khuzait Recruit - I generally avoid them, I only want their nobles. If I do get them in large number, I turn them into archers and dump them in an allied castle.

The aserai infantry are good with the best commander ability and tactics, like in throwing skills there is a point skill your troops can deal 50% damage to shield with throwing weapons which can make it easier for them to outmatch other infantry after destroying their shields , also their spears can dismount enemy cavalry and knockdown their infantry simply they just need a smart player to use them

The Aserai veteran is the epitome of a unit that needs to get lucky in multiple ways to do well. Once again, TaleWorld had dogshit brained decisions with Aserai units.

@@LyonExodus - Not against T5 units. Keep in mind, that's 6 out of how many? Tier 5s doing well against Tiers 1-3, isn't an expectation, it would make the game unplayable if that wasn't the case. The Aserai Veteran Infantry barely outclass Tier 4 units of other factions my friend. I respect what you do, but I'd give them a 3/5 at best, if you're able to use them effectively by timing their javelins and skirmishing a bit before charging. Sieges excluded, since their long melee weapons do terrible at sieges in tight quarters.

They are the worst faction, and can only hold their own against Sturgia, or against a simultaneously attacked khuzaits. Don't you fucking dare call me a liar when all you have is your word against a good portion of the Bannerlord community not to mention the people who make these videos. So what are you going to call all of them liars? Edit: And exactly how does me defending the Aserai make me a Vlandia fan boy. I probably haven't sunk as many hours on this game as you have. I only bought this game like 2 months ago and I've been playing Aserai all the way. In fact in both Warband and Bannerlord I've played nothing BUT Aserai and Sarranid as my main army with anything else to add a bit of flavour. If after all these tests and reviews and videos explaining where the strength of the Aserai lies, and YOU'RE still losing, then it's not the Aserai it's you.
