Thats because the kingdoms culture actually has an impact on the kingdoms decision making in bannerlord unlike warband. And with aserai being traders they generally dont declare wars only get declared on even if your playing as an aserai vassel

In my campaigns, aserai and khuzait tend to absolutely dominate the imperial factions and then fight each other to death. 900+ days in and Unqid is running around with his massive party slaughtering poor khuzaits

First try: the spears do little damage at short range, just how they are, and they loose to the shorter weapons that hit faster. Second try: Okay you gave them a second chance, thats good... wait. Your pitting them against an army of Cav Archers?! Yeah do that for the other factions and see how that turns out with similar numbers :P

Asarai have top tier archers and cavalry archers (who can sort of double as regular cavalry). Their infantry has kinda garbage armor but hey, can't have everything. Can always just pick up some infantry from a tougher faction to be meat shields.

Their archers have the problem that they only get bows at tier 4 and when they get them their bow skill is 60 basicly the same as other factions tier 3 bowmen but then at tier 5 they inmediantly jump to 160 the same as kther kjngdoms tier 5 archers. Basicly ueah their maxed out Rchers are great but getting them there is a hassle

I dont know but the aseria (not that no one has maces) have maces from the start. They are a merchant dominated faction, they are the cash besides the empire. That's why usually they might not lose land right away but they are definitely raided consistently. Back to the maces, better chance to save gear and prisoners to sell

Pretty sure that last enemy archer killed 47 Aserai by himself, planted his flag in the castle. Then later Rhagaea lets him bury his hog in her for saving her from the embarrassment of losing to the Aserai.

One thing to point out is their bonuses to Trading which relate them to the Islamic Caliphates who controlled trade routes and became wealthy. Which is their strength aswell.

Something Mount and Blade (both Warband and Bannerlord) consistently fails to implement well is weapon reach. Spears and pikes were the primary weapon for every military in history (until gunpowder) for a reason. Namely that a longer weapon is almost always a massive advantage that Mount and Blade (and most strategy titles) fail to implement.

Aseraï aren't Sarranids (even if they share similarities). But I agree with you : the Sarranids in Warband is an amazing faction. Well, their low and mid-tier units are kinda crappy and lack armor, but once you get their Elite units, oh boy do they give you value. Sarranid master archer : medieval marksmen, low damage but crazy accurate even at long range. Sarranid Guard : tanky as hell, while bested by Huskarls and Rhodok Elite sergeant they can stand their ground for ages due to how sturdy they are. Mamelouks : THE BEST heavy cavalry of the game, only equaled by swadian knights (but they cost much less than swadian knights, so they take the top spot ^^)

Aserai are the best if you want all your troops from a single culture none of their troop lines are the best but all are excellent. Vlandia has the best crossbow men empire has the best heavy infantry sturgia has the best 2 handed infantry battania has the best longbow men khuzait have the best horse archers but the aserai have not a single best troop but all their lines are good. Good infantry good 2 handers decent archers and amazing horse archers. Oh and yeah their horse archers are basicly a mix of cavalry and horse archers they can do both

Their cavalry is just specimen of mediocre. Kuzait horse archer beat them in mounted range fight and Vlandian charge cavalry can beat them in head on charge fight. You might say they're decent at both of the aspect but you can also say they don't excel in any of it.

Aserai Mameluke Heavy Archers are actually really good. They're a flexible force of horse archers capable of actually charging into melee. And their Vanguard Faris have a tendency of countering cavalry in general.
