A crucial aspect of this battle not mentioned here is that when that first shot landed Russian communications went dead. The Americans were jamming _everything._ The Wagners couldn't call for any support, they couldn't coordinate beyond shouting range (which isn't very far when everything is exploding), they couldn't reach headquarters to get them to call off the Americans. The US wasn't just sending a message about their superior firepower and training but about their superior battle management: "cross the line, and you will die."

@@Bronco-1776 The mutually agreed upon line between Russian and America areas of operation. Both countries agreed that it would be wise to not operate in the same areas, lest there be some accidental engagement. That's what the line was and how it came about. As an additional layer of precaution their respective in-theatre commands set up hotlines they could call to reach their counterpart at a moment's notice. Prior to engaging their attackers, the Americans used that hotline to ask the Russian command who was attacking that American position in the American area. The Russian command denied it was Russians.

I heard a second hand story of how/when a German soldier knew they had lost WWII. The soldier spotted a US tank and was well outside of machine gun range so he thought nothing of it until the tank turned its main gun in his direction and fired. He quickly took cover and survived, but the fact that the US military was willing to use such expensive ammo to try and kill a single enemy soldier made him realize what hell his side was up against.

@@doomlord5921 The "cake story" was a scene in the movie "Patton"...I doubt that its true but nevertheless in WWII the American logistical command, "The Red Ball Express" ran 24/7 to keep American divisions supplied with food, fuel, ammo, new replacement equipment and boots and clothing. Also, the American tanks were largely inferior to the German armor and it took literally 5 American tanks to take out one German...but, American production lines cranked out tanks by the thousands. Also, American air supremacy kept the Germans on the run and American troops well covered. Now, 80 years later we have even more formidable logistics and fire power. It's simple: the Russians were going for "plausible deniability" and when that didn't work, they immediately sold out the attacking force in an effort to keep themselves credible. If they had admitted that Russians were amongst the forces and that Russia had ordered the attack, that would have been an act of aggression that might have triggered a war between Russia and the US. Now flash forward to the Ukraine war and you see that Russia, and more specific Putin, is still trying to use these same tricks. His forces "only went in on a peacekeeping mission to protect the Russians in the three so-called autonomous republics. Questions about what Russian troops were doing around Kiev then were met with deafening silence. And even now, after more than a year, Russia/Putin still won't admit their act of aggression and blame everyone but themselves. Which is kind of the standard abuser's defence: "I don't want to beat you, but you force me to beat you"

@@iga7523 (1) How? I literally just showed you how. All you have to do is read what I said. (2) Not only that but Iraq during the First Gulf War actually had one of the most sophisticated air defense systems in the world and it was a Soviet/Russian backed platform. We turned an advanced Soviet/Russian air defense platform into a formerly existing one almost immediately. In addition to that, Iraq had Russian/Soviet armor that was near the top of the line at the time (in regards to Soviet/Russian supplied armor) and, well, the Iraqi tanks got absolutely obliterated. You should be familiar with these tanks since Russia has been spam sending them to Ukraine since Russia’s good armor has been absolutely devastated. (3) “How do you compare the strongest military to a poor country with barely any infrastructure?” Really shows how embarrassing it is for Russia, “the second strongest military on the world,” that it can’t do a similar thing to Ukraine, a poor country that barely had any infrastructure. Oh wait. That’s right. That’s because the only place Russia’s military is second best is in Ukraine. Ahhh. That’s what people meant by Russia had the “second best military.” They meant that Russia is only second best in poor countries against second rate militaries. I mean look at what happened in Syria. When Russia tried to fight an American force the Russian side got massacred. The Russian side couldn’t even get a kill when they were just absolutely obliterated

@@88amona Nonsense, China lost so many troops so quickly and ineptly that it was the closest time that Mao ever came to being ousted. Which is why Mao did not send any regular troops into Vietnam because he was afraid they would get mauled by the Americans again. I know a buddy that killed one personally and had to cut him in half with a BAR to get him to go down. Found a jar of heroine powder in his knapsack. Luckily this provides a bit of a safety buffer for the boots on the ground because frankly I don't think their leadership does a good enough job watching out for them otherwise. They just don't seem concerned with small losses, which is almost exactly the opposite in every way from a lot of other militaries. The ability to deliver a proportional response is a good thing at times, but in other situations, a disproportionate response serves the greater good (as it did in this case). Politicians aside, I think the Generals are a lot more intelligent and know their business far better than is portrayed to the public. That was done. The US then left the country’s government and military that were trained and stood on their own, to do its own thing. Then the US left… the president then ran to Iraq, the Afghan military then all surrendered without a fight. :/

Send a message? They didn't have a lot of choice. It was 40 SF vs 500 fighters. They were close to the US base. You don't fire warning shots and give them a chance to adapt or engage in small arms fights to be fair. Those tactics would get a lot of Americans killed. What happened is precisely US doctrine for several years now. It shouldn't have been a surprise.

If russian airforce took-off and joined the fight, it wouldn't made any difference. F-22s and F-15s would've took down anything just like artillery and Apaches made quick work of any ground forces. Maybe even before actual take-off, since these jets were probably monitored from the moment the situation started to heat-up, either by satellites, ground or drone surveillance. Hell, russian airforce couldn't even handle Ukraine, even though Ukraine airforce and anti-air defences were almost non-existent at the start of the war. Sure Ukraine have a few Patriots, NASAMS and other modern western-made anti-air equipment now, but in small numbers. Makes me wonder how will situation change when F-16s will arrive to Ukraine... Ukrainians even ordered two custom-made AWACS planes afaik, to use these jets in same fashion USA would. Honestly, what the heck are russians trying to prove?

To the morons saying the Americans fight unfair. We have a moto. "If the odds are even then we're doing something wrong." In a fight for your life, the ONLY thing that matters is survival. That's it. At the end of the day, do everything in your power to get home and help get your brothers home. We always bring overwhelming power to the fight to make sure the fight is always in our favor. If you're an ally then you couldn't ask for a better ally but if you're our enemy then someone else will be raising your kids.

@@nursestoyland So the top 10 air forces in terms of total modernization, logistics, scale, offensive, defensive, & etc capacity are generally valued as follows: United States Air Force United States Navy Russian Air Force United States Army Aviation United States Marine Corps Indian Air Force People's Liberation Army (Chinese) Air Force Japanese Air Self-Defense Force Israeli Air Force French Air Force Purely in terms of scale by number of active aircraft it is US Air Force (5,189) US Army Aviation (4,397, worth noting this is almost entirely helicopters) Russian Air Force (3,652) US Navy (2,626) PLA (Chinese) Air Force (2,084) Indian Air Force (1,645) US Marine Corps. (1,211) Egyptian (1,122) North Korean Air Force (951, largely decrepit) South Korean Air Force (890) Note on additional branches for nationa that made the list: China also has aircraft in its ground force (857) & navy (438) but the former is generally considered decrepit & weaker than Republic of China (Taiwan)'s 719 aircraft. The People's Liberation forces total as a whole to about 3,259. India also has additional branches adding 195 from army & 232 from navy totaling to 2,072. Russia has an additional 384 naval aviation forces which would bring their total to 4,034. The USA in total has a wopping 13,354 aircraft in active ready status. If we combined all branches Turkey would make spot 9 at 1,055 aircraft. Its dedicated airforce has 618 with 392 in army & 45 in navy. The UK falls immediately behind France in overall readiness. French Air Force only has 501, (with an additional 196 in its navy), yet is much further up than many larger air forces to demonstrate sheer size is, though worth consideration, not of much value as demonstrated by North Korea making the list.
