@@DrunkDelilahBrewery - "Because of the litigation nonsense present in the USA" That 'litigation' nonsense that you mention is responsible for bringing Corporate Criminals to justice over silly little things like Glyphosate, Trichloroethylene, BPS, Agent Orange, Asbestos, etc.... " If you aren't from the industry then you do not understand it..." I'm not from the Climate or Weather Industry, but I do know Science and PV=nRT is a law that debunks CO2 AGW, yet Scientists being paid by Politicians will tell you that CO2 AGW is a Scientific Fact, despite the proven Ideal Gas Law saying CO2 AGW is impossible.

Exactly. I got a Swine Flu vaccine in My 20's when working at a hospital in the Midwest and I got MS from the damn thing. They KNEW the side effects of it too. They were told to keep their mouths shut for 8 yrs about it or They'd lose their licenses. After the period was over is when I got told by my neurologist. Another Neurologist wrote a book and one of the chapters in it was on the Swine flu vaccine and how many it killed and the side effects. My Uncle got Myasthenia Gravis from it!

What do myocarditis, ischemic strokes & type 1 diabetes all have in common? They’re all now being more closely researched for possible links to either COVID-19 AND/OR the COVID-19 vaccines. In a period of 6-18 months following vaccination, my mother had an ischemic stroke, my father had myocarditis & my 16 year old daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. NONE of them ever tested positive for COVID-19. My parents barely left their house during the pandemic. You can test & research for a thousand years, but make no mistake about it, until a vaccine or medication is in widespread circulation, it is dangerous & unethical to claim that it is safe for the masses. We still don’t know all of the long term implications of contracting the virus, let alone any possible side effects of the vaccines created.

And yet, billions have taken it. My entire family of 50+ members have taken 4 total shots. Zero side effects. If what you say is true, we wouldn't hear the end of it. In the digital age, a conspiracy of this magnitude would be virtually impossible to conceal.

@DownRange02 2 жыл бұрын
Increases in myocarditis has been mentioned in the media numerous times since the pandemic. My daughter’s epidemiologist told us in the hospital that there had been a sudden increase in T1D since the pandemic, I would have to find the research article regarding ischemic stroke correlations. Notice…I never once said in my original comment that the vaccine or the virus caused these occurrences in my family. I said it’s been mentioned in research. If you’re truly interested, you do the research. I had the vaccine as well with zero side effects. The large majority of people I know who had the vaccine had no side effects. That does not by default mean that there are zero side effects in all human beings. We are all different & our bodies react to things differently.
@DownRange02
@DownRange02 2 жыл бұрын
I am also insinuating that these conditions that have affected my family may have been caused by the virus itself even though they never had symptoms or tested positive. Again, it’s incredibly arrogant & bordering on ignorant to hands down, unequivocally claim that vaccines cannot cause issues for anyone ever which is definitely how this woman in the video comes across.

Vaccines save 2Million lives+ a year, NO studies have shown vaccines to be linked to any significant mortality. And ALL medication, literally all of it, has negative side effects in a small percentage of it's users. The testing simply makes sure these negative reactions are in a small enough minority for it to be relatively safe. For Covid they did rush it a little but the lives saved from it being available sooner out-weighed the risk of lesser testing. And to people who feel like they have a very low chance of having issues from covid or long-covid then fair enough, avoid the vaccine (younger people get long covid easier due to overactive immune systems, older people die from covid more, there's a sweetspot in the middle where you're at low risk to both).

It is not a cure. Please understand this fact. It is designed to build anti-bodies to the target protein spike that is present in the virus which causes the infection to take hold. The vaccine introduces the spike protein (not the virus) into the body as to trigger a natural immune response. Then when the virus comes along and tries to attach to your bodies immune system, T Cells already exist to fight off the protein before the virus can take hold. Think of it as a condom approach instead of a vasectomy !!!

@Milk Thistle You presume way too much. I am cynical of political leadership and skeptical of science. The pathway to vaccination was opened by university researchers whose primary focus is to combat a deadly virus. How all of that turned into a conspiracy theory, I have no idea and no interest but I side with the people who are trying to protect public heath in millions of citizen. If you're suggesting TED is part of the "corruption and tyranny" when its remit is to promote innovative research then you are missing the point of this talk altogether. My point is, that if someone has shut down on vaccination because of mis-information they have accepted without statistical evidence or examining the facts, will never accept vaccination because they believe in something else.

@@dakotayounger6988 I only comment to gain further insight - a conflict is not of interest. I stumbled across Chang Yang Gong et. al. 2009 (Acute toxicity evaluation of biodegradable in situ gel-forming controlled drug delivery system based on thermosensitive PEG-PCL-PEG hydrogel). Interestingly, they found that PEG-PCL-PEG hydrogel was nontoxic and could be a safe candidate for in situ drug delivery systems, despite having used relatively high concentrations. In the study by Xingyi Li et. al. 2012 (Cytotoxicity and biocompatibility evaluation of N,O-carboxymethyl chitosan/oxidized alginate hydrogel for drug delivery application) they found no obvious cytotoxic properties either for that specific hydrogel. However, note that mRNA wasn't present in the hydrogel polymers in either study. The relatively recent study by Heidrun Steinle et. al. 2018 (Incorporation of Synthetic mRNA in Injectable Chitosan-Alginate Hybrid Hydrogels for Local and Sustained Expression of Exogenous Proteins in Cells) did however incorporate mRNA into hydrogel, and further incorporated cells into the hydrogel containing mRNA. They concluded, and I quote: "hydrogels are promising delivery systems for sustained delivery of synthetic mRNAs into cells." So I'm not certain which type of hydrogel polymer you refer to, or which study specifically when it comes to the toxicity of hydrogel delivery systems on biological cells. So please enlighten me with your personal findings. As I initially stated, I would love to gain further insight - if only to obtain more knowledge on the subject matter. I'm looking forward to hear from you and what your research has yielded.

@@Power_to_the_people567 well there's also that problem that a blanket statement that vaccinations are safe is a lie. Most are. Not all. Given recent results, I would say that stating categorically that they are safe is anti-scientific at a minimum. Let's take the MRNA vaccine for instance. It's intended to be injected intramuscularly. That is because the MRNA packets instruct cells to make and express viral proteins. Those cells are in turn identified by T cells as potentially infected and are instructed to apoptos or lyze. That is the source of the significant inflammation and pain that you feel with this particular type of vaccine. Now think for a second. The MRNA vaccine causes your own cells to express viral proteins, and then those cells are in turn damaged or destroyed in the process of recognizing those viral proteins and ultimately producing antibody against them. That's fine if it's a few muscle cells in your shoulder. What happens if that vaccine is accidentally applied IV? Now you're talking about infecting endothelial cells of your blood vessels. And where do veins carry things rather quickly? To your heart and lungs. Suddenly all these documented issues with lung inflammation and cardiac myocyte damage make a lot more sense. Instead of harmlessly losing a few muscle cells, now you're causing crucial cells in your heart and lungs to express viral proteins, and those cells are in turn targeted by your own immune system. Now none of this is controversial, it's not even debated at this point. You have only to look on PubMed to find exactly what I'm talking about. And to claim that these vaccines are categorically safe is nothing short of a lie. No understand me. I'm very much Pro vaccination. I have every vaccination that I have been permitted to get. I do not have smallpox, or hpv, although I would like both of those. Giving my prior career I've been vaccinated against a lot of things that are rare in the United States but more common in Africa. Calling me anti-vax only reveals your own bias and ignorance. And claiming that vaccines, categorically, are safe, likewise reveals your bias and or ignorance and or fundamental dishonesty. If you're going to claim to be Pro science, you have to be honest about the science. And you are not.

@@Power_to_the_people567 that's what the video is saying. And that is blatantly incorrect. And it takes very little effort to get on PubMed and understand why. I like TED talks for the most part, but for some reason they are giving into this propaganda. It's better to be honest with people. If given incorrectly x vaccine can be dangerous. If a person is sensitive and suffers allergies, they can be dangerous. A live, or attenuated viral vaccine given to a person who is immune compromised can be very dangerous. It's simplistic presentations like this and what is supposed to be a forum for informed people is inexcusable. I can understand saying this to a third grader, but not an adult audience. And lies like that or what cause people to have legitimate concern. I got the moderna vaccine and booster, despite my understanding of how mRNA vaccines work, because at the time we did not know yet how dangerous covid was and I have elderly parents so I was willing to take the risk to protect them. Now that I know that vaccine neither prevents you from getting the disease, nor does it prevent you from spreading the disease, but it only reduces your own symptoms. I would have not gotten the vaccine knowing that. It's not worth the risk to my lungs and heart. And ultimately both my parents and myself got covid despite being vaccinated. I've had it twice more since then. In that case, the danger of the vaccine far outweighs the benefit to me. TED Talks are supposed to be for reasonably intelligent and sophisticated people. And this kind of propagandistic simplistic inaccurate presentation is an insult.

@The Barking Mouse So what exactly in this video was a lie and can you post the paper in PubMed that supports your claim? Your anecdote is irrelevant to the conversation. But if you want to go based on that. Then you have just agreed and admitted that the vaccine reduces the symptoms. Now compare symptoms between the number of non-vaccinated VS the vaccinated. The numbers don't lie, the vaccine reduced the mortality f the virus. The common cold, polio, etc... killed many people, now look at how many can survive it due to medicine and vaccines. And look at how many have died when they didn't get vaccinations or proper medicine. I appreciate your skepticism, but including biases, anecdotes, and anti-establishment arguments does not reflect proper skepticism but rather, blind distrust.

Usually, animal models translate nicely to humans. With vaccines, I have no confidence, because in the animals, they never look into toxicity much, and then when they do the human trials, they make sure that toxicity is low by diluting the vaccine, but never properly test for efficacy. You can just tell the story, that there's some real stuff in there, but it's so little it won't hurt you (or the virus). I mean during polio or was it the first asian flu pandemic, they literally ran out of material so they just diluted it, knowing nobody would be the wiser.

And because of knowledge sharing they were able to simply download the virus;s genetic code off a website. @@Power_to_the_people567 which is a problem because they were. Majority of Animal testing was skipped, phase 1 trails were reduced in time and phases 3 and 2 were merged. With no real safety testing done at all, they simply tested for efficacy(efficacy defined as anti bodies get produced), you cannot safety test in that time frame. The placebo group was destroyed half way through the merged trail and offered the vaccine. Actual risk reduction of the vaccines was shown to be less then 1%, but the pharmaceutical companies promoted them as 90% effective based on relative risk reduction.

This explanation of how vaccines are developed is an incredibly meaningful. I appreciate how Dr. Gunter detailed the process and recent intervention to efficaciously streamline steps in order to provide a safe, effective vaccine during an ongoing pandemic. Unfortunately, vaccine science and technology became heavily politicized during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic with misinformation running rampant. With the pre-existing anti-vaccination movement and beliefs founded on the indisputably false claim that vaccines cause autism in children, originally stemming from critically flawed and now debunked studies by Andrew Wakefield, vaccine science and efficacy was further subjected to baseless criticism. Dr. Gunter addresses an issue with ethical implications on the individual, societal, and public health levels. As the science and healthcare community continue to establish trust with the public regarding vaccines, we as human beings and a collective society must consider our moral obligation to be vaccinated to prevent disease and death. It was the utilitarian philosopher Peter Singer who “remarked that if it is our power to prevent something bad from happening, without thereby sacrificing anything of comparable moral importance, we ought, morally, to do it.” Harm prevention is a powerful argument for vaccination, and while vaccination can be mandated by government, the less controversial and more humanistic view of vaccination as a moral imperative to prevent harm to the individual, all others, and benefit the public aligns with the ethical principle of beneficence, or simply put doing good. Furthermore, Alberto Giubilini summarizes in his article published in the British Medical Bulletin that “considerations of harm prevention prevail over considerations of individual liberty.” The notion of protecting our most vulnerable individuals, especially children who have the right to be protected from preventable harm, is particularly essential to our moral obligation to receive safe, effective vaccinations. Moreover, parents must be properly informed and educated in the preventative medical care of their own children for their health and the greater good of both the public and the next generation of humans. Ultimately, vaccination and its ethical implications epitomize the connection between individual, collective, and institutional responsibility. I hope that we as a society and human beings can foster education, decisions, and policies that will support, enhance, and facilitate vaccination for the benefit of us all.
