I am have a little bit of a heart attack, we found 4 1981 quarters in excellent condition while hunting boxes. We set them aside. When I saw your video, I jumped on immediately. We have 2 P-mint and 2-D mint. I am not sure what they would grade, But I think we need to send them in. Now, let me find a video on submitting coins for grading!! Thank you, J and B. I’ve been hoarding ALL 1980 through 1985 quarters I’ve come across for years. Figured they eventually be hard to find because of the video game craze of that era. I have so many painted red quarters that the arcade techs use to use for tests on the machines, or when the machine would “eat” your quarter. Some painted red ones definitely look mint state.... too bad they’re painted lol.

I have a bunch of coins I purchased maybe a year or so ago, all individually enclosed in cellophane. All appear to be uncirculated. Among the coins is a 1981 P. I was wondering if there were any DDR for this year because with my coin microscope, the letters seem to be doubled a good deal in the words "QUARTER DOLLAR" and particularly in the "O" . Also is there any way of perhaps a close of self grading possible? Such as certain and absolute guidelines needed to be met to know if perhaps my coin was MS68? I do know it is MS.

I have a 1981 P quarter that has a silver look to it. I weighed it and it weighs 5.47 g. The edge does not look silver. It has the copper line going through it. Were there any 1981s that were accidentally struck in 40%silver? It still has the ridges on the edge, so that is not where the .2 grams of weight went
