After the first show, I was walking out and passed by the family . I saw Mery and reached out to her, thanking her for all she had done. She grabbed my hand, said Thank You, and then kissed my hand. I’ll never forget that moment.

This concert was totally organized by her label. They have her going about her life. But this is what they are reaching for. The 29 was the time when that Theater was available. It took them a long time to get a date for her. But this was great for the time they had.

Great podcast guys! Love hearing everyone's experience and stories about their time in Las Vegas. It was great to hear people who did not really know her say so many positive things about Angelina. It was also nice to hear of all of the positive interactions that people had with Angelina and the rest of the family. Good people give off good energy! The band was definitely a step up and sounded great. My bucket list is to see Angelina live and I swear I will make it happen. She is everything we thought she is, and to some extent, maybe more. Thank you Alan, Pontus, and guests for this special podcast. This was fun! Love the Angel Community! Can't wait for the next podcast!

Thank you all for this session. Some really interesting inside information was shared about Angelina and her family, members of the band, how they put this show together, and how some of the staff and newcomers reacted to Angelina and the shows. I wonder if they will also accompany her in the other concerts for this year?

It was great to hear all of your comments. My wife and I were at the first show. What an amazing experience. She was just great and her warmth definitely shone through and was very sincere. I’ve seen a lot of negative comments about the band but I think it’s mostly people basing their comments on cell phone videos. I think the band was just great. I think they complimented her very well and at no time felt they were overwhelming or drowned her out. I did notice a few glitches but felt they were minor. It was so great to hear how involved Rob Christie was with the show and band selection and how Angelina was involved with the arrangements. As we walked in I saw Sara greeting people. We could have easily walked up to her but was a little shy about it. I hope I get the chance again someday. I was really happy to hear about the first timers who were there and how they were blown away. Were at lot of them just visitors who wanted to see a show? Also fun to hear that the theater staff were also amazed.

My wife and daughter are annoyed by how much I enjoy Angelina's music, but they can not deny her talent. My wife and I went to her first concert in Las Vegas, and we found even the small hiccups to be endearing and made it real, and made the great moments even greater because there was no way anyone can say anything about lipsynking or autotune.

Great POD Cast, lots of good information and insight While there I talked with one of the Guest Service girls, she was about 20 something, she was curious of who Angelina was, since the concert basically appeared out of nowhere, she remarked that she must be someone special because most of the attendees were older and Angelina was really young, we had a lengthily conversation about AJ and she then really wanted to attend the performance There was a comment about the second performance being better than the first, this is not unusual, the first time playing before an audience everything changes from a rehearsal, the acoustics change, the lighting changes and the adrenalin pumps up, its like driving a new car for the first time, after you get the feel it all smooths out and you feel comfortable. Thank you all

I first discovered Angelina in October 2019 from a newspaper article interview with Hyde Klum about her expectations of AJ advancing in AGT after her first performance. I then got on YT and watched every video she had done up to that point and then every reactor that featured her. Then on Christmas 2019 I played a couple of her videos singing carols for about 25 family members who were awe struck. The AGT video from October was played on January 6, 2020 and I was already hooked.

Angelina's remaining 'things to do list' for the immediate future should include an April 7th, Billie Holiday birthday tribute show, where she would visit a Harlem jazz club and present audio/videos of Billie singing her songs, followed by Angelina singing the same songs 'Live'. It would be billed simply as 'A Night With Billie & Angelina'. Next, would be a stated previously desire of Angelina that involves her recording some Spanish songs.

That would be incredible!

I chose the 2nd show, figuring both her and the band would be more relaxed. I did not have funds for both shows. I drove 850 miles+ from Wyoming, visiting some of our National Parks along the way. So it was a week on the road in stunning country. First time seeing Vegas since the late 70's. As soon as I checked in to my room, I wanted to find the stage area and meeting group. To my surprise, the first people I came across in the lobby, were Sara, Meri and Juliette. Great start! Sara is incredibly pretty and Juliette is getting tall. I wanted to hug grandma...but decided to behave. More random thoughts: I had been contacted by Uncle Mike, days earlier. He told me he was going to have a new ticket waiting for me. He was thankful I was driving so far to see Angelina. But that was the last time I'd heard anything. I was also in areas without cell service. Would I have a ticket? Ticketmaster isn't showing any change. I sat outside the theater with others waiting for the 2nd show and hoping to see Mike. Instead, I saw his wife(?) with Angelina's cousins in a stroller. We talked, (trying to keep this short)and she said she was sitting right next to Mike during his conversation with me the week earlier. She would tell Mike I was there....things were looking up! Things were running a little behind and the crowd was building, while the first show to emptied out. I saw Jon and LuLu and asked about the show. They assured me I would enjoy Angelina and the band. My ticket was scanned and I was told to go right and look for a podium. The lady asked me my name and she told me she had a new ticket with my name just delivered to her! I was escorted to the 4th row and that's how my first Angelina concert started!. Thank you Uncle Mike and family! I was sad when Rob C suddenly appeared and nobody cheered. Wondered if the first show acknowledged his appearance? At the very end, Meri came out for the group picture, and again I was listening for some background cheering. The gold streamers were covering the aisles. Made it a touch slippery. Made eye contact with another old guy and we laughed at our sudden loss of traction. I was blessed with good weather for over a week. Storms were moving in and I drove home just hours before the first snow fell. What a great week!

When Rob appeared during the first show surprisingly there also was no reaction. I’m sure that a lot of people don’t know who is is but I thought there might be a little cheer. I normally go over warm Blanket several times. This is June, 11, and this is my fourth time. Angelina is living , or life is ahead of us. This is not a younglady who has money on her mind. Inside her she believes that she is sent to sing to us/the world. Remember, she gave away her prize money. Singing is her personality. Her life. Her family made this move because they saw her message. Her dreams. Fortunately, the family had the necessary means to honor her wishes.

@clemson18896 ай бұрын
I'm sorry I missed this earlier. Wonderful behind-the-scenes discussion. Thanks for sharing. I'm 57 and have a broad vocal background from Baroque to Jazz, mostly acapella, in my teens and on a larger scale as part of a large chorale backed by orchestra. Had the pleasure of singing at Piccolo Spoleto in Charleston, SC, in my twenties. I believe there will always be a niche for her style. Think about the many rock stars who've found the following of younger generations when collaborating with artists like Tony Bennett. I've also found that KZbin has truly been an excellent vehicle for young reactors, being exposed to and exploring and enjoying so many lesser-known artists and unfamiliar genres. Living in South Carolina and in a mixed racial environment, and her jazz influences being African-American, I think her management team should consider seeking out opportunities where she can perform for a more diverse audience. I do recognize that her band appears to be mostly African-American and very lovely, but predominantly Caucasian audiences and venues will limit her exposure and fandom across the board. Lastly, there are a vast number of African-American reactors who cherish her talent. Perhaps a video chat with a few of the more well-known reactors. It would be an excellent resource. Naturally, my opinion is just a grain of sand. I can't wait to see Angelina continue to grow.
@pjg58x6 ай бұрын
I think discussions with a diverse group of reactors is a great idea. As is obvious, Angelina’s current audience is primarily older and seems to be a large percentage of Caucasian. However to achieve a long and successful career her audience will need to expand and especially to younger generations for obvious reasons. I know that she can appeal to a more younger and diverse audience, especially with her newer music. They just need to be exposed to her, and she needs to be promoted in the right way. I think her audience would be an interesting discussion and podcast.

Your reaction is really on point. If there ever was a person who could bring the world together, it is Angelina with the DNA of the world flowing through her veins and Jazz in her soul. We are all children of the world with more in common than the petty things that devide us. That so many adopt Angelina as family is really hopeful. "Supernova DNA" to be sure! I hope the world can get to a group hug before we destroy each other. Angels from all over can be a positive force to recognize our common humanity: we all just want to nurture our kids and see them grow up safe from the selfishness and hatred that devides us.

Great session with insights I was hoping to hear about. Perhaps I'm comfortable with this panel because as a septuagenarian, I fit in with the age group. That does, however, make me worry about the future for Angelina. These concerts included several songs that I heard growing up and her interpretation of these was off the charts. But my kids don't relate to this music and I am not certain that there are sufficient young who would. It may be that she is looking at a solid career with a few Grammys but a following on the level of a Diana Krall. Any thoughts on this?
@roszyknuke6 ай бұрын
I share your concern with her aged fan base. She has the talent and ambition to go anywhere she wants with her life and I hope she achieves everything. For me, an aged fan, I hope she does NOT become a huge mega star with pop music . She has far more to offer the world with her artistry , interpreting songs from across the ages and writing new music. Her EP, recent live shows, even the Xmas song collection shows she seems committed to building her career on her artistry rather than compromise herself for pop stardom.
@joeedley39366 ай бұрын
another: on her effect on others: she would do well if she eventually starts a franchised business called Angie's Cafe. She would allow for an open mike onstage and of course her music would be plsyed, but anyone could go to the mike and share how her music affected their lives. menu items would be labeled for her hits: the Gloomy Sundae... etc. a place for Angels to hang out.

---- Alan, you mentioned that it was difficult to hear the specific lyrics for Angelina's new, not yet released song, Princess of Ruins. And that you and others could only determine about 95% of them. I agree that it is somewhat difficult to determine the lyrics with the normal cell phone recordings that were made ---- However, have you checked out the video made by Merrilee Gaines? ---- Merrilee happened to be able to record Angelina in 4K video and audio ---- Merrilee has some of the best visual and audio videos of many of the songs sung by Angelina that I have seen and has made a nice 15 minute concert reel of some of Angelina's performances: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nJWlZWhnod-tn6s ---- Merrilee also recorded Princess of Ruins in 4K although she did appear to not get the very beginning (which should be able to be gotten from others): kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z57aeX5nf9N8oK8 ---- Another excellent recording of the performance was by fellow reactors React To The World (John and Lulu - their channel is decent size at over 193K subscribers), who are from Vegas. John recorded a decent quality video and audio. They are big fans of Angelina. They happened to meet Angelina and Sara when Angelina was 13-years old and doing AGT - Champions, and got a few photos: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rWqYhqScZ9Gmlbs ---- As a side note, maybe John and Lulu would be willing to be interviewed by you and Pontus as they can give an interesting perspective on Angelina since they have over 1.6K published videos, having reacted to tons and tons of people/songs

Thanks for the tip. I have done my homework by listening to every recording available- but I'm still at 95%

@@thealanpapier -- I know, but I thought you may not have listened to John and Lulu's recording because it was only played within their reaction video -- Thus, you may not have known/realized that the video they reacted to was actually a video that John had recorded since almost all other reactors use other people's videos and not ones that they had created -- BTW, KZbin tries to normalize all uploaded video to -14 LUFS (Loudness Units Relative To Full Scale, is a standard loudness measurement unit for broadcasting, radio, TV, and podcasts. It is similar to RMS in the way it measures average loudness over time) -- This can present a problem, especially for broadcast master video that is set to -23 LUFS -- Note that the Audio Engineering Society has made a set of recommendations in the form of AESTD1008. AES says that speech should be normalized to -18 LUFS and music to -16 LUFS. So, by KZbin using -14 LUFS, the dynamic range of both the music and speech will be slightly lowered -- In the case of broadcast video, the range would be downgraded and one then loses what I would call noise sharpness. The best example I can think of in relation to Angelina, and the effect of reducing the dynamic range, is the video published on KZbin by Norwegian TV 2 of her performance of I Have Nothing on June 22, 2022 for the TV show Allsang pa Grensen (kzbin.info/www/bejne/d6LXeomPe8-UprM). The UK sound engineer with the KZbin channel pa1189j (he has done audio work on many of Angelina's videos) found a direct off-air video of this performance by Angelina and published it where you can hear the difference compared to the processed TV 2 video (kzbin.info/www/bejne/gnW9ZatmmKt9iNU) -- Maybe you could contact pa1189j and ask him if he can work some audio magic on the better quality videos of Princess of Ruins and you can get that missing 5%? -- Also, if you can get hold of the original raw video, that would be best since it was only the phone that did the processing and you would eliminate any processing done by anything else such as by KZbin -- BTW, I have heard some of the magic done by pa1189j where he took a muddled audio and was able to correct the audio to being decent -- In other words, maybe Angelina actual said the words, but the LUFS normalization is causing an ever so slight muddling of the audio so you cannot distinguish what Angelina was singing?

The band should not have performed what they did not know . I blame her manager for the failure of the Portsmouth concert. It’s up to him to make sure the band could play this concert. What a shame that was .

The band hit the ground running two weeks before the show? It showed. All competent in their craft, they were NOT compatible with Angelina's talent or style. One song ending with the guitarist all alone without a clue. Angelina of course, was outstanding and saved the day. Cheers!

"Bang Bang" needs work. The first guitar player's accompaniment, wasn't adding anything to the song. Then the 2nd one joined in and neither of them were doing anything for the song or Angelina's voice. It took away the whole vibe of the song. What were they doing?

How about move her husband instead. Maybe there is a more amenable passenger in that row. Their poor planning should not rely on the man to make a sacrifice. Maybe that’s his lucky seat.
