Actually Bolt at 16 ran with a negative lean and does not match Johnson’s. Johnson’s technique was inarguably the most efficient. No unnecessary head roll or arm flail. If you notice his pelvis lines up with his neck. Ramrod straight. His remarkable stamina and cadence was what set him apart. He has been noted to remark how he was baffled by Bolt’s running during his 9:58 as to how much his body rocks back and forth and yet comes up a Winner! Bolt made up with sheer power!

Guot seems to have great thrust off each stride even at his peak speed, as opposed to flicking along at peak speed, as many other runners do. WRT the juniors, it seems to be the norm that many outstanding juniors do not go on to be at the top as adults. I would guess that college-level experience would be critical.
@hakuakua3020Күн бұрын
It's interesting to see that Gout is already running with a leg extension from the knee down. I've only seen a few actually move while doing that and not over extending like they are mimicking someone else. The Bolt comparison is not quite there for me. His form is waaaay more refined than Bolt's was. I get the stride length but nah, he doesn't remind me of Bolt at all. His form appears to be a lot closer to FloJo to my eyes. I've seen some runners who don't do well with the drive phase technique. And it's been a longtime since I've seen a runner get up and start striding earlier than 60 meters in a 100 thats effective. Does Noah classify as that type? hmm dunno. It will be nice to see how Gout gets trained as he grows. Will he develop a powerful start and transitions early or later down the track?

41 is just insane! This might be the most vital statistic to running anywhere close to 9.7! Bolt with his 6’5” frame learnt to convert his height to power and thus a longer stride without losing speed. It is this exact factor why we see both Bolt pull away from the rest. And now we see Gout Gout doing the exact same thing. The uncannily similar pulling away at the end is a telltale sign of greatness. Flo-Jo had the exact same long stride. I wonder what her stride count was….?
@meme-g7w3d2 күн бұрын
christophe lemaitre had a pb of 9.92 but also ran the 100m in 41-42 strides, asa well as kemar bailey cole who had the same pb
@dennisrobinson800821 сағат бұрын
Flo Jo was 47 steps in her 88 year. She used a technique with an upright torso, high knee lifts and more air time at top end speed. In 87 and earlier she ran like most others relying excessively on leg turnover and had low knee lifts.
@madsmix13 сағат бұрын
@ True. Flo-Jo had an amazing stride during her drive and top-end phases. Normally one has the forward leg do most of the work and the trailing leg to just catch up for its corresponding drive action. In her case she manages to flick her trailing leg forward faster than usual to reach the forward position for the drive. Fantastic shin muscles and quads! Quite akin to the up-down motion of the leg during a swim where they have almost equal power distribution. Marcell Jacobs has a very close flick without as high a knee position. It however does not translate to stride length.
@AramGN2 күн бұрын
I was surprised Joseph Fahnbulleh wasnt on the list. He has massive strides that might be more than Bolt's even imo (just visually, no proof)
@madsmix2 күн бұрын
Fahnbulleh showed great promise but his start never improved. Even when he lost weight and went leaner and meaner that didn’t translate to a different stride. His lumbering style meant that he could only manage in the 200m.

Asafa Powel (6'4") took far more strides to run his world record than bolt (6'5") did to run around the same times early in his 100m career. Sorry to be annoying with the random facts.
