A couple of decades ago here in the UK scrap men collected electrical cable, piled it high and set fire to it to reclaim the copper. This video is refreshing to see as your country is doing the right thing. Thank you.

a couple of decades ago cable isolations where made out of PVC with zero recycling worth. todays cables isolation is made out of PE, which can be recycled like shown in this video. normally this should be the standard in europe during the recycling laws.

Could be the reason they burned the PVC off. The change has saved the emergency services a fortune and us better health. Thank you.

Great video. This is real hard work, especially the unraveling of the huge scrap pile. I have so much respect for these people, they really WORK for what is probably very little money. And mostly with bare hands and (almost) bare feet, and without much in the way of safety measures.

without actually seeing the video, it has - 1.workers with no ppe. 2. workers operating large dangerous machinery that has either , no safety guards or workers wearing long loose clothing . 3. The floor (dirt) is a crucial part of the process as it's where at every step, shit gets put before being manhandled onto the next part of the process 4. the only calibrated tool is a trained eyeball.

1:37 get the man a angle grinder or something or put longer handles on that thing

Even longer handles would be impractical. A hydraulic or electric cutter would have been great though.
