I grew up in Germany and now live in Canada and I can relate to your desire to live a quiet life in nature in your OWN space, conducive to expressing your creativity in so many different ways. Hang in there and don't settle for anything less than closest to your dreams. It seems to me you both are able to listen to your intuition well...and with patience you WILL find what you are looking for. ❤ I have been following you both for years and admire your artistic talents, both in painting and videography...amazing!!! All the very best to you!!!! Nevertheless, enjoy each moment wherever you are. You already have a beautiful life built for yourself, and it will refine as you go along. Nice that your mom will be a part of it all, too. Viel Glueck. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

It's stunning what you can do with a camera, Leena. Of course your story is fascinating, as well, because you live under such rare circumstances, but it is always the pictures paired with the music that leave me wishing you had a very large budget, with a terrific camera, and a bit of a crew to make an hour and a half video. You are so very articulate, and sensitive to your surroundings. Please also give your mum my best.

Another great video from Østerdalen in Norway where I used to spend my summer vacation every year from 1980 to 1990. Beautiful nature and lots of tracks for hiking around Femund lake. Both on the East side (Elgå) and west side Sømådalen and Buvika where I have relatives living. Hope you can find some farmland to buy there, the people are always friendly and helpful in that area.

When you will find your house, you will know. There is a special energy coming from it. I wish you good luck with your research. The face of Joachim when he saw the house is precious. It reminded me my reaction when we found hour house this last May. I didn't say: I want it. I said: This is our house! And it became ours. Not every aspect of it is perfect but we know we can change what is bothering us to make it comfortable. Good luck in the quest of your future home, it is very exciting to be part of it. Thank you for sharing. Norway is so beautiful!

@@LeenaHenningsen Hi Leena, I searched for my home online (and going to see places) for 1,5 years 2-3h every day to the point that I almost gave up. An inner voice kept telling me that there was a reason why I hadn't found it. When I almost didn't hope for anything anymore, saw some online pictures (that looked much worse than reality, they renovated in the meantime), went to see the place and in 2 hours made the offer. It's been almost 4 years since then, it was by far the most beautiful, yet the less expensive out of the many I had seen. Everybody compliments it and everybody is shocked to hear it was so affordable. It's a journey, keep going and have faith that the best house for you will be available at the right time. 🍀

A beautiful video again 🙂 I can relate to the emotional roller coaster effect and the overwhelm that the search for a new home can bring. I guess it needs to be a home that inspires you to be creative and to have some comforts is quite a good idea in my view. Even if we know that we can live with a little discomfort, it will always take extra energy from us. If you know where you really want to put your precious energy into, basic comforts definitively supports that. When the decision is made to move forward, the Universe will adjust to that. I personally find that when it's not quite clear what exactly I am looking for, the Universe is giving me some options to explore so I can fine-tune what the criteria are for my current next step. Looking for a place to call your own is a journey into the deep questions of how we want to live our lives and what our dreams, goals and needs are and the time-span is unknown. Good luck finding the match that feeds all souls, from you guys, Leena's lovely mum and the doggies! 💖 It is waiting for you somewhere out there... it just needs a little time to present itself😊 Much love, Jolly 💜💙💚💛🧡❤

Beautifully filmed as always, capturing the magic of the landscapes, then the fire with the music... As soon as I saw that farm I thought 'no', then the problems you described confirmed it. Right decision. Unless you feel an overwhelming yes, it is not the right one. Every house has an energy or aura. You will find your home one day. Perhaps while you are out travelling with the van.

You made the right choice about the house, thankfully the man gave you information (wind/snow) that made the decision easier. My mom had "wind" and snow issues on an island in the northeast of the US, just like this road, when the wind blew it would blow already plowed snow and new snow back over her driveway. So, this was the last and final reason, in addition to the mold that made the decision to move on easier. The house you will buy will be something you both will feel when you walk right into it, you will know it. Good luck and relax it will come, enjoy your autumn and enjoy what is in front of you now. Thank you for sharing.

That if some decision is feeling unclear and not as easy, then it is just not appropriate and maybe isn't the time for it.Because I am such a person that just don't know how to make decisions and I wish and pray to be better at it. I also now saw a house for sale in Europe that I really liked from the photos, that have a really good feeling about it, but I didn't have such feeling with all the other houses I have looked on, and this house is small just 2 rooms with a lot of nature around. and is enought for a small family of 2 with maybe few children to come. Start with small and grow later is a Great Advise . I loved it.

The best one's are either priced very high because they are in very good condition, or they are simply not for sale because it goes from one generation to the next through families. When farms come for sale most people in that area will know right away, and there are always someone ready to jump on available land. There's a farm where I live that one day was for sale, and the same day it said it was sold. I see this kind of trend all the time, and personally I'm not looking for a farm, but I can understand the frustration. Never buy rotten buildings because when things are visible, there are often a lot worse once you start to tear it down. A couple hundred thousand kroner can all of a sudden become 1 million, and with a normal budget I'd recommend to just follow your instincts. One red flag when you look at listings online, is to see if there are photographs from all rooms and buildings. The one's that are missing, are most often missing for a reason. Ask them directly right away why and also ask them to capture photographs from what they want to hide there, because you will find out anyhow so it's best to be honest right away.

Hi Leena and Joachim. We have been seeing Northern Lights here in Quebec as of late. Tonight's forecast looks good this far south. But is has been too cloudy at night !! I know the "Hunt for the Farm" has been long and arduous, it's been a long time. I'm glad Joachim made that very important call to seal the decision. I don't think carting groceries on a snow scooter would be very good when there are serious Minus temperatures happening, no? Sometimes staying where you are is a good choice when you don't know where you are going, right? That was a piece of advice I received long ago from my mentor at one point. He said: If you don't know where you are going, sit down where you are, survey the surroundings and take out your "map" so to speak. Consult the map, with the surrounding information, and only when you are ready to get up and move, DO you move." That piece of advice has been beneficial to me. We have dipped into single digit nights now, and I winterized the apartment the other day. And Thanksgiving is this weekend in Canada. Hope all is well up there. Take care.

Some people just stock up n dont go to store during winter, kinda nice all that shopping work just relax. Hobby to grow garden and store onions potatoes, apples, carrots. Or buy bulk from farmers market. Ferment cabbage, apple cuder vinegar... lots of good recipes for pickles, kefir etc. Dehydrate tomatoes and add to oil in jar. Have a greenhouse to get seedlings started earlier. Freeze driers also a good way to keep summer harvest. Id love to keep a mini fridge for 6 month cheese ripening. For winter emergencies not sure what could do...except go slow and buy a truck with snow plow attachment to get out. Basement could use dirt, fill it back in...seen a person do that to a root cellar. May have to add gravel and do tile floor...I like idea to add woodfire boiler in outside hut to run radiators and floor heat. Really economical way after about 20000 usd or 213,912.00 Norwegian Krone install....similar cost to do stone fireplace...though get better heating. Best wish to starry paradise.

I have been on the lookout for a house to rent in Hamburg and especially in our current neighbourhood they are either super expensive or off the market in the blink of an eye...we have come close a couple of times but in the end other tenants got prioritized. So relieved you didn't go ahead with it. Structural issues aside, mold is extremely dangerous to your health and the dogs.' If it is as thoroughly embedded as you describe, getting rid of it all is probably not possible. At the very least it would be time consuming - months - and quite expensive. You wouldn't be able to occupy the house until.the process is complete. Mold remediation for home purchases is big business in the US. I had to make the same decision once. The best experts we could find told us there are no guarantees. Mold may linger undetected while you experience disturbing health issues in your new home. The two most toxic mold strains commonly found in homes are more potent after they die than before. Just complicates the problem further. You made a great decision.

Wondering if you participate in the local art scene for more contacts. I wonder if buying land and then building a house is an option. It's a huge responsibility if you DIY tho, so best to hire house builders ...but that costs money. Perhaps look for a failing rural business with land and house to buy, for a lower cost, in the next recession.
