A little look into how we managed to acquire our land and build our cabins here in Kentucky! As well as, acknowledging all the people that helped make it possible...
Stay at our Cabins:

On this channel I make weekly videos documenting the build of my rustic mountain rental cabins. When not on a build trip I make videos building and preparing for the trips as well property maintenance, firewood and my outdoor wood boiler.

I was still watching and your last two statements was worth the wait! So very true Steve. Respect to others is why I’m cutting free wood on numerous farmers land. I am not fortunate enough to have land of my own. So respect and reciprocation got me some to use!! Great story and great video brother👊🏻

Soon after buying our retirement home in the NC mountains, we met our neighbor, Jimmy. It turns out the house we bought belong his Uncle Hershel and Aunt Margaret. The house on the other side belonged to his mother, but she had given it to Jimmy's daughter and now her and her husband live there. After moving in to this house, they decided that they wanted to wire the basement with lights and outlets and even though I'm not an electrician, I have the skills needed for that job. All of this to go to say that I agree 100% about local knowledge from those that have been here for generations. As for wiring the basement, I showed the young man how to install the wire and outlets and I did the hot side of the work, so he learned and in the end, the work was all completed by me at no charge.

Well done. your situation sounds like mine. I've got a father and son that own the properties on either side of my house.

Your experience with the lumber yard made me think about how this country was built when everyone knew everyone and you could always count on them to go that extra mile. I would be surprised if one of them didn't offer you a personal phone number for after hours and emergencies.

I have done the same with my camp in the U.P. Make friends and offer what i could. Being a welder and fabricator really helps too with favors. When 26 acres next to mine came up for sale, we met face to face, made a hand shake deal and 30 days later tile company closed for us.
